Evangelism Report 1
Our young adult Bible study group meets weekly to study the book Grace. One week, a
young lady joined us. During our study, we discussed what Grace is and how it is a gift from
God that we cannot earn or deserve. We talked about how God's Grace allows us to be saved and
have a relationship with Him. We studied the Bible verses about Grace, like Ephesians 2:8-9,
which says, "For it is by grace you have been saved, through faith—and this is not from
yourselves, it is the gift of God— not by works, so that no one can boast." (Ephesians 2:8-9
INV). She listened intently and asked many thoughtful questions. She shared that in her
thoughts, Grace was all about good works and earning one's way into God's favor. I explained
the true meaning of Grace. As Romans 3:23-24 says, "For all have sinned and fall short of the
glory of God, and all are justified freely by his grace through the redemption that came by Christ
Jesus." (Romans 3:23-24 INV).
Philip Yancey offers a powerful exploration of God’s grace’s radical nature and how it
can transform our lives in his book What's So Amazing About Grace?1 Also, the book The
Ragamuffin Gospel by Brennan Manning emphasizes that Grace is for the broken and the
imperfect, not just the righteous and the deserving.2 And the book The Gospel in Life, by
Timothy Keller, offers a comprehensive study of the Gospel and how it transforms every aspect
of our lives.3 As Titus 2:11-12 says, "For the Grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to
all people. It teaches us to say "No" to ungodliness and worldly passions and to live self-
controlled, upright, and godly lives in this present age. (Titus 2:11-12 INV).

After we discussed all that, she understood what the true meaning of Grace is and how it
works for us. I continue to pray for her and for the Holy Spirit to reveal the truth of the Gospel to
her in a powerful way. And she accepted Jesus as her savior, and we continued our studies.
Evangelism Report 2
During my shadowing hours for healthcare chaplaincy at the hospital, the chaplain I was
shadowing, and I had the opportunity to evangelize to a man who was about to do open-heart
surgery. The chaplain and I talked to him about Jesus, and he accepted the Lord. We felt
compelled to share the Gospel with him because we knew he was going through a tough time
and needed eternal life. It was an intentional decision to present Christ to him, and I remained
sensitive to the Holy Spirit's leading.
According to Banks, "Evangelism is the proclamation of the good news of salvation in
Christ to win converts to him."4 This definition aligned with our approach towards evangelism,
as our goal was to lead man to Christ. We shared the good news of salvation through Jesus Christ
and prayed with him. He made the decision to accept Christ, and we were glad he made this
decision. The man was willing to continue following Christ. As stated by Stetzer, "Evangelism is
a process that does not end with a conversion."5 Thus, I asked the chaplain to follow up with him
and provide him with spiritual guidance.
Evangelism Report 3
During another hospital visit during my shadowing hours, I had the chance to evangelize
to a woman while her family was visiting her. The woman's grandson was talking about how he

would be in heaven. I felt we should talk to them about eternal life and how Jesus gives us
eternal life. The family was open to conversation, and we prayed together. The woman asked us
to follow up with her. Since I finished my shadowing hours and won’t be able to see her again, I
made sure the chaplain would follow up with her.
Banks defined evangelism as “proclaiming the good news of salvation in Christ to the
family.”6 My aim was not to force them to decide but to lead them to Christ through sharing the
gospel message. The woman's response showed her openness to the Gospel and requested a
follow-up. As Christians, our ultimate goal should be to make disciples (Matthew 28:19-20).
Nielson says, "The call to make disciples is to share the good news of Jesus Christ with others.”7
This was my approach toward evangelism during the woman’s visit. I shared the good news of
Jesus with her and her family, and the woman's request for follow-up indicated that she was
interested in knowing more. I was trying to present Christ and remain sensitive to the Holy Spirit
through my hospital visits. Their response was not the issue but my obedience to the Holy
Spirit's call to share the gospel message.
