One of the most efficient ways to incorporate encouragement to the people that will I lead in
ministry is by using the Bible and finding encouraging scriptures. For example, in Isaiah 43:2 “When you
pass through the waters, I will be with you; and when you pass through the rivers, they will not sweep
over you. When you walk through the fire, you will not be burned; the flames will not set you ablaze”.
This verse states that no matter what our issues are, we are never alone. Through the calmest of times,
he walks beside us and cares for us, does not let the river of life sweep us off our feet. Through the
toughest and most chaotic times, he is fighting right beside us, proud of who we are becoming because
he knows what we need to succeed on earth and in heaven. Also, another way to encourage the people
that follow you is by sharing your own journey, the fun and breezy and the tough situations, that way
they can see a real-life example of how God saved you from whatever rock bottom was for you.
There are many ways that you, as a follower, can encourage the people who lead you through
your spiritual journey. For example, when you first entered the ministry you had some tough issues that
you could not solve by yourself and now it’s a year later, you made it through with the help of the people
who lead you, tell them. It is always nice to know that you made an impact on a person’s life in such a
way that you helped them through a tough issue and maybe even more. Sharing life experiences, good
and bad, will also help the person who leads you get new ideas to help the group and in turn help more
than the one person.
In the book “Be Encouraged” by Ben Gutierrez, in the segment titled “It is Okay to Say ‘No’”, he
states that we should not worry about shrugging off responsibilities when we say “no” to some of the
request we are given. He states that by learning to say no, we are showing a level of spiritual wisdom.
This is shown because we are extracting unnecessary burdens from our lives and discipline yourself,
create better time management skills and so on. This is an encouraging entry because sometimes in life,
we are taught that we should not say no all the time, to be helpful to anyone and everyone that asks.
This entry shows us that it is more than okay to say no. We know our own limit and we come first, we
know the load we can take and when we start to say no, we start to level up our other skills; such as
time-management and we are improving our spiritual wisdom.
