Discussion Board: State Farm - Dangerous Intersections
Identify the various constructs and concepts involved in the study.
According to Bhattacherjee (2012), a construct is an abstract concept that is used to give
an explanation to a given phenomenon. In this case, the concepts include what is causing the
accidents as well as how they view the feedback from various reports. State Farm uses these in
order to explain the dangerous intersections.
Concepts can be defined as characteristics that can be associated with objects, events, or
people (Bhattacherjee, 2020). In this case, the concepts are characteristics of crashes in the
intersections. Some of these characteristics include traffic through the intersection, severity of
the crashes in the intersection as well as who the driver was ensured by. In this study, State Farm
only focused on the drivers that State Farm covered. This was due to State Farm already having
the data of the accidents. Also, since State Farm was paying for the research and changes, it
makes sense to focus on the most dangerous intersections for their drivers to help avoid claims
being filed.
What hypothesis might drive the research of one of the cities on the top 10 dangerous
intersection list?
According to Enago Academy (2021), a good hypothesis consists of the introduction of
the research topic as well as the proposal of the results that are expected. There are many
potential hypotheses that the cities on the top ten dangerous intersections could use to drive the
