Volkswagen has created a software that detects when the vehicle is undergoing an emission test
and provides false data regarding the level of emissions produced by their vehicles. This scandal
has made it necessary for regulators to create new programs that will prevent future abuses by
other car companies. This paper explores the legal, spiritual and ethical perspectives of the
Volkswagen incident, and provides a prospective on how the author would respond to this type of
incident as the CEO of the Diesel Division at Volkswagen. One of the solutions this paper
explores is implement a Chain of Custody (CoC) program to document the entire process to
ensure accountability.

Due to a scandal that that was unveiled to the public in recent years, Volkswagen was
found guilty for manipulating their engine software systems to pass emission testing.
Volkswagen is now facing many fines and scrutiny from the US government for designing a
software to cheat the system. How can a process of this magnitude be streamlined? Let’s discuss
