The medical technology involves scientific discoveries that are applied in delivering
efficient and improved health care (Bronzino, 2014).The knowledge produced by the biomedical
research help in technological advancement. The medical technology it develops from other
scientific fields like engineering, chemistry, and physics where the main goal is to improve
safety and increase benefits to the patients. Improvement of technology in the health field has
enabled the health practitioners to carry out their duties effectively and achieve the intended care
for patients.
The benefits of healthcare technology include cost-effectiveness, the value of technology,
there is increased employment in the diagnostic industry and health tech growth. There is a
reduction in costs since of the devices help the patients to conduct some of the tests that would
require them to pay physicians to do it (Wernz & Zhang, 2018). This involves small and large
complex equipment's being placed at the reach of patients and taught how to use them to better
their care. As a result of improved technology, medical practitioners are setting private health
facilities which increase job opportunities for the people studying health. It has made it easier to
operate under the private facility and help offer good health care equal to that in government-
sponsored health facilities. According to Genesis 1: 28, ‘And God blessed them, and God said
unto them, Be Fruitful, and multiply and replenish the earth and subdue it" (New Testaments,
King James Version, 2008). Through the growth of health tech, the people become fruitful and
collectively help to face the challenges of health on the earth.
Some of the challenges that are associated with the medical technology is increasing cost.
The survey shows that costs are increasing by 7% annually due to the improvement of high
technology (Wernz & Zhang, 2018). People pay for this costs without their knowledge but the

costs are outweighed by the benefits. Secondly, customer expectations have been raised which in
some cases they are disappointed if the technology does not give the expected results (Haynes &
Krüger, 2017). Additionally, it has led to overreliance to technology where some will ignore
seeking for physician guidance once they can access the information on the use. It also leads to
overspecialization in the medical practice.
The American beliefs in capitalism where those who develop the technology will put
their mind and resources to advancing so that they reap reward thereafter. This is the leading
cause of cost increase in health annually. Due to the advancement of Tech, the American beliefs
that they should have the most advanced tests equipment, drugs, procedures and clinical
equipment. Through such a belief it makes the citizen have high expectations of the medical
system care and appreciate any innovation in the health field.

Response to Post One
In the first post, I agree with the author that engineering offers great help in the today's
medical technology. The paper focuses on an article that outlines how medical technology helped
a child with the seizure. The technology is connected to smartphones, which give alert to the
mother when the child is having the seizure. This brings the benefit of improving health care
while making it easy for the physicians and to the family of the patient. Biblically this is
supported by calling people to shine upon other by offering their help (MatthewJ5:16, King
James Version) like those devices created to alert parents when the young boy is having a
seizure. Although the author illustrates by that single case, there are much more benefits and
equipment that have been developed for improving the overall care in hospitals. The challenge
outlined is cost increase due to medical technology advancement. I agree that there is an annual
increment but it is not the only challenge since people have increased their expectation and
reliance on new technology (Wernz & Zhang 2018). Putting someone in a life support machine
is a way of giving the family hope that there is still life in the person. The health of a patient
affects the family and friend and through such a life supporter it gives hope which is the part of
the care system. Biblically it supports technology from a quote from Genesis where God blessed
people asked them to multiply and be fruitful (Genesis 1: 28, King James Version). This has
been achieved by making the health system better to serve those with needs.

Response Post Two
I disagree with the argument that medical technology may sometimes fail to meet the
standard because even as Feudtner and his colleagues argue, before any medical technology is
approved, there is always an evidence-based research that is conducted by the responsible
persons (Feudtner et al., 2014). Mainly, they identify the gap that the equipment will fill and
evaluate all other best alternatives they have to approve it. So if there is a medical technology, it
is an advancement of existing methods that increases efficiency in the same field it was meant to
serve. Genesis 1:28 “… Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have
dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing
that moves on the earth” (Genesis 1: 28, King James Version). From this verse, people were
blessed with the knowledge to invent, make things and subdue the earth and face challenges and
they should thus provide technological solutions to the problems facing man. The challenge
highlighted is the cost, which comes with one paying more for the technology (Wernz & Zhang,
2018). I agree that also in terms of it being costly, the funds are redirected to embracing the new
developed technological guidelines other than other purposeful works by the patients.
Additionally, the American government is responsible for guaranteeing the Americans security
in the healthcare services. People trust information from the media sources where they also seek
guidelines for some of the equipment on innovation sites. Sometimes it may be a challenge since
people will avoid health care consultation as long they can access the information online.
