Pause and Reflect
1. Take a moment to think about the people who have most impacted your thinking, behavior,
and life path. As you recall their names and faces, you will realize that leadership, titles, and
positions of organizational authority are only part of the leadership landscape. Now, think of
all the relationships in which you have the opportunity to influence the thinking and
behavior of others. Consider how often in any given situation you face the following choice:
Am I seeking to serve or to be served? The answer to that question will depend on whom
you choose to follow.
A:
2. That leads to the second key question. Are you willing to follow Jesus as your leadership
role model?

say to God?
A:
7. Name the special people in your life who will love you enough to tell you what you need to

Strength and Journaling
It was previously suggested that all who would be strong should become journal writers. As the
questions are asked and allowed to sink into the inner mental apparatus, write. Write what comes
to mind. Ask the questions, reflect on them, and write something every day. Occasionally, reread
what you have written and extend it. Cultivate spontaneity. Let the pen capture the fleeting
insight.

7. Think for a moment on the depth of character and the love Jesus displayed in that intense
moment for His disciples who would abandon and deny Him in writhing hours. He did
not give in to the temptation to despair over their slowness to grasp the essence of what
He had repeatedly taught them about how they should lead. As the ultimate servant
leader, Jesus demonstrated His willingness to provide what the disciples needed most: to
grow and to develop in their ability to fulfill their mission, which was to be taught one
more time.
A:
8. Think for a moment about how well you serve those around you. Do you initiate
coaching? Do you help your people to pass the final exam? Do you help them to live
according to the vision? Leadership is not about power. It is not about control; it is about
helping people live according to the vision.

was expected and what was delivered. Recall the frustration and wasted energy that could
have been avoided by testing for understanding.

A:
2. What three pieces of evidence would you rely on as your commitment to seek to lead like
Jesus? Is it hard evidence or merely circumstantial?
A:
3. Think of a time when doing the loving thing instead of the popular thing, the easiest thing,

Leading Like Jesus
Am I a leader?
A: Yes, I feel I am a leader and aspire to be one and I would like to be regarded a brilliant
leader.
Am I willing to follow Jesus as my leadership role model?
A: A: Yes, I am happy to look up to Jesus as my leadership role model. Following His
example, I think, will enable me to become an effective servant leader. People, I feel, can
easily notice when this is the case, and it is my desire that others will notice this from me.
How do I lead like Jesus?
A: An effective leader, according to Jesus' remark in Mark 10:42-44, is one who prioritizes
the needs of others. To serve like Jesus, one must seek to encourage another individual or
group of people for the development of themselves or others, whether professionally or
personally.
Pause and Reflect
Take a moment to think about the people who have most impacted your thinking, behavior,
and life path. As you recall their names and faces, you will realize that leadership, titles, and
positions of organizational authority are only part of the leadership landscape. Now, think of
all the relationships in which you have the opportunity to influence the thinking and
behavior of others. Consider how often in any given situation you face the following choice:
Am I seeking to serve or to be served? The answer to that question will depend on whom
you choose to follow.
3
A: There is an opportunity to assist those above, below, or on the same level as you in every
scenario. Rank has no bearing on one's capacity to serve. It is something that everyone can
do, and something that everyone ought to do.
That leads to the second key question. Are you willing to follow Jesus as your leadership
role model?
A: Yes, just as Jesus encouraged and nurtured his followers, I intend to apply his leadership
style to control and encourage my team members.
“Does Jesus have any relevant, practical knowledge or experience in dealing with the
following types of leadership issues I face day to day?”
A:
Yes/No
_Yes__Working or living with and caring for imperfect people
__Yes_Taking time to train, develop, and delegate
_Yes__Under constant scrutiny and testing of commitment and integrity
__Yes_Required to handle rejection, criticism, and opposition
_Yes__Facing fierce competition and conflicting demands from friends and foes
_Yes__Tempted by instant gratification, recognition, and misuse of power
__Yes_Facing serious personnel issues, including turnover and betrayal
_Yes__Required to communicate in a multicultural environment
__Yes_The need to challenge the status quo and hierarchy to bring about change
_Yes__The need to communicate a radically new vision of the future
__Yes_The need to call attention to poor leadership at great personal risk
_Yes__The need to put career or relationships on the line to serve a higher purpose
4
Pause and Reflect
If you are skeptical about adopting Jesus as your leadership role model, write down your reasons.
What is it about Jesus that is causing you doubt? What is it about you that is causing you to hold
back?
A: Jesus is a real leader with the capability to influence the thoughts of his followers. Thus, I
have no reservations about following Jesus as a role model for leadership.
Pause and Reflect
List 3 ways you nurture trust in your leadership.
A:
i. Fostering collaboration.
ii. Transparency
iii. Honesty
List 2 things you do that put trust in your leadership at risk.
A:
i. Others sabotaging my efforts when I am doing the right thing
ii. Failing to be reliable and providing wrong information and responses to my team.
Think of a time when you lost trust in a leader. How did you feel? How long did it last? Did you
forgive him or her?
A: I felt betrayed and it was challenging to deal with the betrayal. Besides, I lost confidence and
it was challenging to trust others. Nevertheless, I have forgiven that person, but still the incident
is still fresh in my memory.
5
Pause and Reflect
How do you think the people in your family would describe your leadership in the following:
A time of crisis
A time of failure
A time of victory
A time of plenty
A time of want
Do you like what you would be told? If not, why?
A: Yes since my family understands. I try to be open with them in everything. Aside from being
open, I have always stood by my family members through thick and thin.
Instructor’s Assignment:
Spend 30 minutes in solitude. What did you experience during your time of solitude and/or
meditation on Scripture?
A: I feel at ease and at harmony since I am feel connected to God.
Before this assignment, when was the last time you purposely spent a significant amount of
time in solitude without a to-do, think, or pray list and sat quietly in God’s presence and
listened to His “still, small voice?” If you cannot remember, you now have a clue why your
life and leadership seem so hindered and unsatisfying. If you can remember and it was more
than a week ago, you need to update your plans for the immediate future.
A: I think it would necessary for me to set aside more time reading the scripture and
allowing God's message to infiltrate my life without interruption.
6
One of the most revealing questions you could ask a leadership candidate is, “How is your
prayer life?” The answer will speak volumes about where and how the leader might lead.
Here is a question for you: “How is your prayer life?”
A: Even though I do my best to communicate with God, I think I should dedicate more time
and set a schedule so that I can pray daily and pray more.
Evaluate where you are with your own practical application, what you plan to do to make it
a habit, and when you will set as a target deadline for each one to be a Scripture habit.
A: Basically, I consider my self as a planner and scheduler. Thus, my top priority would be
scheduling time for prayer since it would help me pray more. To achieve this, may be
include it into my everyday routine.
One way to apply what you hear is to ask yourself the following questions and to jot down
the answers. You might want to record them in your personal journal or make a form to help
you remember.
What did God say to you through His message?
How does your life measure up to this Word?
What actions will you take to line up your life with this Word?
What truth do you need to study further?
What truth can you share with another person?
A: This is something I would like to preserve between me and God.
Think of a time when, beyond a shadow of doubt, you experienced God’s love for you:
personally, specifically, and in a way that only he and you knew its true significance in your
life. How did you feel at the time? How do you feel at this moment? What do you need to
say to God?
7
A: It is an incredible sensation to feel connected to God, and it is a feeling that I cannot be
able to explain. I feel loved very much by God. I find it necessary to inform God that I
would like to be more persistent in dedicating time only to my faith. Besides, I would like
him to know that I would like to be connected to him.
Name the special people in your life who will love you enough to tell you what you need to
hear. How are you improving those special relationships? What can you do to make sure
they stay alive and well? Who needs you to hold them accountable? Do you love them
enough to tell them what they need to know?
A: My parents and my best friend love to an extent of holding me responsible and telling me
what I need to know. The secret to maintaining such a bond is to ensure that we are always
speaking and sharing our feelings and views. Basically, establishing a good communication
is essential for developing strong and long-lasting relationships.
Management Self-Assessment
Instructor’s questions:
What is your definition of management?
A: Management, in my perspective, is made up of people who have greater experience at
their firm and have been promoted to positions of leadership. In my experience, it is ideal
when these people are promoted to management positions based on their skill and aptitude,
rather than their length of service.
The ends do not justify the means. Do you do your best to select the correct means to your
ends?
8
A: Yes, I always attempt to choose the best moral judgments I can, even if it requires a little
more time or effort. When I pick the appropriate techniques, my consciousness is clearer,
and I feel good about the goals I have worked for.
Questions:
Are you contemporary? Do you have a sense of history? Are you living in the current phase
of developing history? Do you live with open wonder at contemporary politics, philosophy,
religion, economics, art, music, literature, science (both natural and social), and business
development?

say, and do? And, in being sensitive, are you willing to say the words and take the actions
that build constructive tension?

that spawns the pressure or enthusiasm that influences people to improve.
Can you accept the fact that the best possible compromise is right?
A: Compromise can work for a while in circumstances when two persons have highly
obstinate or inflexible personalities.
Do you have a view of yourself on which progressively greater strength can be built?
A: Yes, there are several methods for me to develop myself and become a better-rounded
individual. There is always something I can do better, at the, church, home or in another
aspect of my life.

team has done previously to help them improve.

questions are asked and allowed to sink into the inner mental apparatus, write. Write what comes
to mind. Ask the questions, reflect on them, and write something every day. Occasionally, reread
what you have written and extend it. Cultivate spontaneity. Let the pen capture the fleeting
insight.

leader, Jesus demonstrated His willingness to provide what the disciples needed most: to
