Management, 16(3), 195. https://doi.org/10.3390/jrfm16030195
This study conducted by Al-Ameedee et al. will act as support for the idea that holding to
strong business ethical standards will be beneficial for a business. This study specifically
examines the effects amongst auditors in Iran and Iraq. The researchers investigated
whether or not ethics in business have a positive effect on employees’ psychological
status. The results suggested that there is a positive relationship between business ethics
and happiness. In comparison, the authors found a negative relationship between business
ethics and aggression. This study will act as proof of the positive effect strong ethics can
have on the business and its employees.
Bible Gateway passage: Colossians 3 - New International Version. (n.d.). Bible Gateway.
Retrieved February 12, 2024, from https://www.biblegateway.com
Colossians 3 provides an in-depth Biblical response to why believers should adhere to
and/or set strong business ethical standards. Colossians 3:17 states, “whatever you do,
whether in word or deed, do it all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the
Father through him.” This verse backs up the idea that standards for ethics in business
should ultimately be honoring to God, who created morals and values. Although this
verse does not directly refer to business and work, this verse does say “whatever you do,”
which applies to the workplace. This would be the Biblical approach to business ethics.

ANNOTATED BIBLIOGRAPHY
Luke 6 is a chapter that describes how people should treat each other, which makes up a
large portion of business ethics. This chapter will guide the discussion of the Christian
response to business ethics. A verse for Christians to consider when reviewing the
importance and impact of business ethics would be Luke 6:31. Luke 6:31 states, do to
others as you would have them do to you.” When discussing ethics in business, a believer
should consider how he would desire to be treated in the workplace. Furthermore, he
should consider how Christ calls him to be in the workplace. Ultimately, believers would
desire that strong ethics mimic Christ’s calling in their lives.
Bulog, I., & Grančić, I. (2017). The benefits of business ethics - Ethical behavior of decision
makers: The empirical findings from Croatia. Mediterranean Journal of Social Sciences,
8(4–1), 9–14. https://doi.org/10.2478/mjss-2018-0067
The study by Bulog and Grancic is based out of a large company in Croatia that examines
the impact strong business ethics have on the success of the company. The authors argue
that strong ethics will ultimately lead to a successful business, especially when properly
carried out by managers and leaders. This study will support the idea that the overall
impact of ethics on a business is positive. Strong ethical standards will lead to more
productivity, profitability, employee loyalty, and employee morale. Furthermore, the
business will hold a reputation of honesty and integrity. Since standards are set by the top
decision-makers, it is ultimately up to these leaders to set the tone for the rest of the
leadership that funnels down to the lowest tier. This will lead to the greatest impact on
the company.
