Hodges Lawn Care and Services will provide customers with a level of lawn care that is
higher than competitors in the area, as well as provide customer service that is tailored to each
specific customer and their needs. With other services provided, we feel as if our customer
service will gather more of this business based on word of mouth and quality service provided to
the customers in our local area. Lawn care is a hard industry to work yourself into because most
people are only doing it part time, due to several major companies that seem to have a monopoly
on it due to convenience. Hodges Lawn Care and services will take a more personal route to this
business idea, working on building relationships and growing long tern loyal customers that will
spread the word about our company.
Place- Sales and Distribution
One of the perks of the Lawn Care industry is you do not need a shop or actual location
right away. I can have all my equipment and everything I need stored right in my garage, and
actually feel safer about it being closer to me, than stored elsewhere. Same goes with the window
cleaning and power washing aspect of the business. I have a simple power washer right in my
garage that doesn’t take up hardly any space, and window cleaning gear is very minimal and
does not take up must space at all. Very optimal for a start-up. The great thing about my location
is I am central to several cities and 30 minutes away from Waco, Texas and Austin Texas, so
expansion could be very promising in the next 2-4 years I would think.
There will not be much distribution, if any, on this start-up due to the simple fact that it is
a one-man operation currently that is supplying a service rather than a good, so I would simply
set a radius that I am willing to drive to, and that would be my area of operation for supplying
my service to customers.

Promotion – Messaging
Like I mentioned above, I am central to about 3 mid-sized cities, and an Army Base, Fort
Hood in Central Texas. Based on this information, I would heavily be advertising and targeting
military families and military spouses in order to help ease a stress on them during times of
deployment or other hard times the Military life brings. I am a veteran myself, So I feel that can
resonate with potential clients, because I can not only say that I understand what they are going
through, I have lived it.
This strategy could play a huge part in my “word of mouth” aspect of the business,
because word travels like wildfire on military installations, especially if it's something that will
make their lives easier and ease a stress.
Another plan we have is giving a military discount. Whether they admit it or not, military
members always love a good discount, I know this from personal experience. I think that since
we plan to give a 10% military discount and our quality services, this will equal a great
opportunity for expansion and steady business.
In today’s world, social media is the best way to get your name out there. I think simply
asking a customer to post pictures and tag our Facebook in their post, could work magic in
spreading our name and services.
Promotion - Marketing Activity
I think my target market would most likely discover our products by word of mouth
and/or Facebook. Over the summer I spent a lot of time looking up different Facebook groups for
the area and was able to gather a good number of clients simply by posting pictures of my work
and explaining a little bit about what we do. It definitely takes a steady effort to share, post, and
advertised on Facebook and other social media outlets, but I believe this is the best and most
4
effective way because it spreads so quickly and is the most efficient way to get word to the most
people.
Marketing Budget
Due to the heavy influence on Facebook, marketing budget would be very minimal. I did
spend about 25 bucks over the summer to target audiences and advertise to a more broad amount
of people. I also have an idea to advertise at gyms on TVs, which is about $120 a month, but
could be an incredible way to advertise to people might not normally see our services to, so I will
honestly just see how much money we are bringing in on if I want to spend that much money a
month on advertising. “most young people trying to start their own business will have limited
resources and probably the burden of financial debts. The ability to make the best of the
resources in your possession is fundamental to the ideas expressed in effectuation theory,
bricolage and bootstrapping.” (McPherson & Jayawarna, 2023)
Biblical Worldview
To me, this is the most important aspect of business. All of this is really pointless if our
business is not bringing glory to The Lord and his Kingdom. I think in an effort to make a
“Kingdom impression” on people we would do several things. The first is not overcharge. I
believe in giving people the benefit of the doubt, and charging them a fair price, yet still giving
them a great outcome to share with others. Most of us have struggled financially at least once in
our lives, if not more than once, and that type of thing will always come back around if you give
it to Jesus. Exodus 22:25 says “If you lend money to any of my people with you who is poor, you
shall not be like a moneylender to him, and you shall not exact interest from him.” (Holman,
2017)
I think doing an honest work and for the right reasons which is for the Kingdom and to
5
bring God glory, at the end of the day, will produce more fruit and income that we could ever
imagine. I think sometimes we forget that God wants us to succeed and wants us to have the
desires or our hearts, we just don’t want to submit what we’re doing to him, and sometimes that
is all it takes!
Go-to-Market Strategy
Our AO is in a great area. Heavily military town and city that in the middle of 2
metropolitan areas in Texas.
Lots of room for expansion once we get going.
Repeat customers will either make or break us, based on quality of service provided.
