Statistical Qualifications, Diagnostics and Review
Our textbook talked about the three pillars pertaining to best statistical practice and how
they relate to data analytics. "These pillars facilitate supporting higher quality decisions by
measuring and therefore improving our performance" (Bartlett, 2013). The three pillars of best
statistical practice are statistical qualifications, diagnostics, and review, which are essential to
building a strong infrastructure needed for effective data analytics (Bartlett, 2013). Incorporating
each pillar of statistical practice lays the foundation for organizations to build an infrastructure
that supports statistical analysis. The ability of companies to incorporate statistics in data
analytics impacts their capability to gather, interoperate, evaluate, and use data in the decision
making process to find answers to problems.
When you look at communication and leadership, they should always go hand in hand.
The skill of communication is essential for everyone to have, but especially leaders, so they are
able to facilitate change in the workplace. Leadership and communication skills need to be used
with the data analytics to be able to explain the results in a way that people will be able to
understand the data (Bartlett, 2013). If this is done well, it will build relationships and provide a
path to making the right decisions in the decision making process. Leadership and
communication skills are not always natural; there may be some training that is needed, and for
those that communication comes naturally, there are still aspects of communication they can still
learn. If communication is missing with data analytics, it can become hard to understand and
incorporate into goal setting. Communication skills should always be promoted by leadership,
and improving that skill to overcome obstacles and see opportunities needs to always be there
(Cohrs et al., 2019).
Biblical Tie In
"It is like a person building a house who digs deep and lays the foundation on solid rock.
When the floodwaters rise and break against that house, it stands firm because it is well built"
(Luke 6:48, New Living Translation). This verse explains how there is significance in making
sure we have a solid foundation. This foundation could be applied just about anywhere. But for
us, communication is a foundation for being successful in corporations. God wants us to be
successful, and being successful in communication is one. He was for us to constantly be
communicating with him, but that is not where it ends with him. "Don't use foul or abusive
language. Let everything you say be good and helpful, so that your words will be an
encouragement to those who hear them" (Ephesians 4:29, New Living Translation). We are
called to be in communication with others. However, that communication needs to be of God. As
leaders, when we keep God in our communication, we need to be encouraging to not use other
believers but of everyone. When we do this, we are showing an example to others of the right
way to communicate. They may on equate it to out faith or God, but it will be setting an
excellent example to others on how to communicate and motivate those we are leading.
