GROUP 1 CHARTER 2
Expectation of all Members
The following is a list of the minimum expectations from members of our group for BMAL
501- D02. The intent of this list is to establish a set of guiding norms and principles that will
allow all members of our group to collaborate effectively and respectfully to meet all the
requirements of the Strategic Leadership and Management Course. All members of our group
are committed to abiding by these expectations and have agreed to collaborate in a way that
exemplifies their professionalism and commitment to the school, their peers, and the body of
Christ.
1. We will treat each other with respect at all times and we will allow all members
to express their ideas freely.
2. No loafers, couch potatoes, hitchhikers or the like.
3. Team members will accept criticism with humility and will have an open mind
rather than take a defensive posture when the criticism is given constructively.
4. Every member will promptly address any incorrect or inaccurate information from other
team members’ posts. Everyone is empowered and should be comfortable correcting
other’s mistakes.
5. Members are expected to review their work to ensure proper formatting, spelling, and
grammar, ensuring all requirements for the post are met; this includes adherence to
APA 6th Edition standards.
6. All group members will be punctual and make every effort to meet the agreed
upon deadlines and meeting times of the group.
7. Everyone is expected to be actively engaged and will participate in the discussion
board throughout the week.
8. Communicate any and everything. Constant, clear, and concise communication
will enhance the group’s ability to produce great products.
9. The leader is responsible for checking sources carefully before posting, to avoid any form
of actual or perceived plagiarism.
10. Conflicts will arise as we work through our project; this isn’t always bad. We
are expected to work through them and use them as a way to make us better.
11. If there is significant disagreement between two members that cannot be resolved by the
involved parties, a group vote will be held, and the majority will rule. Members will not
be able to abstain from voting.
12. Members should not assume what others are saying if the message or the instructions are
unclear. Members will make an effort to seek clarification whenever it is needed.
13. All consolidated work will be posted at least 24hrs prior to Dr. White’s deadline in
order to give group members a chance to proofread and recommend changes prior to
final submission.
14. Once you have submitted your individual post, check the discussion board at least once
daily to provide feedback and input to other team members.
15. Before the final group post is submitted each member will post affirming that they
concur with the final draft and that it should be submitted as is.

A Note on Conflict Resolution
Proverbs 17:14 says, “Starting a quarrel is like breaching a dam; so drop the matter before a
dispute breaks out” (New International Version). If we are being gentle in correction, humble
when corrected, and kind and compassionate in all things, we should have minimal problems
with conflict. If conflict does arise, the best action plan is to be open with the other person about
it, bring it up right away, and not let it fester. Interpersonal conflict does not need to be part of
the group discussion, so it should be handled privately via email, text, or phone call. If you
believe a team member has something against you, the right thing to do is to go to them and
make it right (Matthew 18:15). Even if you do not think you are in the wrong, it is better to be
humble and resolve the situation. If you have something against another team member, you
need to choose to both forgive them in your heart and let it go, or to confront them and resolve it
quickly.
GROUP 1 CHARTER 4
Loafers, Couch Potatoes, and Hitchhikers
If someone is being a loafer, couch potato, or a hitchhiker, we will follow the recommendations
and instructions in “Working in Groups: Resolving Problems” posted on the Assignment
Instructions page. If a group member’s work is too poor to contribute to the final product, and
they do not contribute to the discussion, we will not include their name on the final product. We
should, however, give them a warning before taking this step. If they submit their post in time to
make revisions, the group leader for the week should let them know in advance that it is not up to
an acceptable standard; likewise, if they are not participating in the discussion board, the group
leader for the week should give them a warning and a chance to rectify it. A unanimous group
vote (excluding the member in question) will be required to ultimately remove a member’s name
from an assignment.
Extenuating Circumstances
If any member of the team is suddenly facing unexpected circumstances such as illness, death of
a family member, or any other unforeseen difficulty, they will make sure to communicate the
situation to the rest of the team. We will do our best to assist a member that is facing hardship
and try to lessen their burden and provide assistance while abiding by the school’s ethical and
moral codes. If the situation becomes such that the member cannot participate in the course and
meet the minimum academic requirements for individual and group submissions, the member
will inform the instructor of the circumstances to determine how to proceed. If the instructor
allows it, the group will continue to support the member as long as they meet the set stipulations.
Regardless of outcome, the group will post a submission by the set deadline at the end of the
week.
2 Corinthians 1:3-4 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of
compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can
comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves receive from God.
