Abstract
Learning the many types of personalities and how to coincide with them all can be a task at times
especially working in a group setting. In the first project for the course the objective was to learn
and understand your personality and how would it fit within an organization. I believe the best
way a group can work together is to understand each other and figure out how each personality
can help achieve the goal of the group. Through the readings I gained the knowledge of my
personality and how I interact with society. My skill level to work in a goal oriented setting and
succeed is very high. As an INFJ, my primary mode of living is focused internally, where I take
things in primarily and by intuition. My secondary mode is external, where I deal with things
according to how I would feel about them, or how they fit with my personal value system.

PROJECT 1 3
Personality Type
There are many personality types; many are very difficult to understand while some are
easily understandable. Personalities are traits that make up an individual. We all are made to be
different t and made different in the eyes of our creator. We are made in God’s image our sole
creator the reason for why we do anything. How we deal with day to day activities and being
around groups is evitable to change. I’m usually most of the time a happy go lucky person and
very happy about what my day may bring me. Introvert, intuitive, Feeling, and Judging are the
personality traits that describes me according to the Jung Typology Test. These traits make up the
four letter code INFJ. INFJ individuals are people that need more out of a career than a job and
expect more out of life (Careers for INFJ Personality Types). INFJ individuals usually choose a
career in which we are able to live our daily lives in accordance with our deeply held principles,
and which supports us in our life quest to be doing something meaningful. Since INFJs have
such strong value systems, and persistent intuitive visions which lend them a sense of knowing,
they do best in positions in which they are leaders, rather than followers. INFJ definitely
describes me; in working with groups I’m going to always put the goal of the group before me.
The success of an organization depends so heavily on how well the employees can coexist with
one another and be able to put the greater good of the organization before anything else.
Personality defined states, the complex of characteristics that distinguishes an individual or a
nation or group; especially: the totality of an individual's behavioral and emotional
characteristics (Personality). Each and every individual is different and has a different
personality and their idea of what it means to be successful to work in a group and understand
others is different. This to me is what makes working together difficult, but also interesting. Its
PROJECT 1 4
the self-knowledge of knowing how well you work with others and understanding what it would
take to accomplish the goal of the group.
Step 1
Introverted, Intuitive, Feeling, and Judging
Introvert. I was twenty-two percent introvert, I usually look inward to solve problems
and pay close attention to my thoughts and emotions. My day to day schedule includes me
talking to friends and family and helping them out with issues they might have. Its always easier
to have the answer to someone elses problem and not the answer to your problem.
Intuitive. I have an intuitive of thirty-eight percent over sensing. This would explain me
quite well; I’m always trying to come up with different ideas and ways to make things work.
Thats what I love the most about being me, I never stop thinking. If there is a way then there is a
way for me to implicate process and the program better.
Feeling. I’m able to feel what people are saying to me, which important to me because
not only do I want people to hear me or listen to me I want them to be able to feel my words as I
speak. Life is a feeling process, where an individual have to be able to fell when a situation is out
of control, this felling process to me is living in the moment and thats why I believe I’m twenty-
five percent feeling.
Judging. Judging and Perceiving is one of the four preferences and they both correlate
with one another. Judging sometime can be bad and deciding a person intentions. Judging can be
considered stereotyping, which is a bad thing inside of an organization and group setting. Its
best to first understand each individual and see where they can fit in the success of the
PROJECT 1 5
organization or group. For an individual with an INFJ personality, they would use judging to be
productive. We are using Judging when we: Make a list of things to do, schedule things in
advance, form and express judgments, bring closure to an issue so that we can move on (The
Four Preferences).
Strengths of INFJ
Some of INFJ strong points include good listening, High expectations of ourselves, and
sensitive and concerned for others feelings. I can absolutely say that I’m not a good listener, but I
do strongly care about my friends, co-workers, and family feeling and how they are coping with
life. If anybody needs my help they know they can count on me and I’ll be there to help. I
believe in karma where if you treat everyone right and don’t lie to anyone good things will
happen to you. I have seen where good things come to those who have done right by God. It
takes a quality human being to put other before them and as much as we want to think that there
are good people out there just like us, but in reality there isn’t. Good people with a good heart are
becoming difficult to find for various reasons, times are just changing. Its sad to have to be at
this point in our days where religion isn’t the focal point in society any more, which has
demoralized our society.
Weaknesses of INFJ
INFJ personalities tend to hold themselves back and I think due in part fear of the
unknown and fear of leaving family or friends behind to gain their own success. Other
weaknesses include: Extreme dislike of conflict and criticism, have very high expectations for
themselves and others which is both a strength and weakness, have difficulty leaving a bad
relationship. Although, INFJ have a tough time leaving bad relationships behind; I dont
PROJECT 1 6
understand why from a personal view. This is an issue I would have to do more research on
because we are the type of people that know what is best for us and the individual. I wouldnt
have a problem leaving a bad relationship because I know what would be best for me long term.
Having high expectations of yourself can be a good thing, but also detrimental to your
relationships with co-workers or friends. We as people that always want to succeed and see
nothing but the very best out of people we set expectations high and expect that we meet those
expectations and everyone else does as well. When I’m working in a group I set the bar and
expectation of what the pace would be and what I expect out everyone in the group; again we
have a goal to accomplish I want to accomplish that goal without any setbacks.
Step 2
This was my first time taking a personality test and I actually enjoyed it. The test brought
out some truths about me and also helped me understand some things about that I didn’t know.
The test for this course was designed for us to articulate and determine what our personality type
is and how can we use this a in group setting or in an organization to accomplish more goals and
complete more tasks set forth. By taking this test it has given me a better understanding of my
personality type, bit also what other individuals personality types are and how to deal with that
person in an organizational setting. I have learned that each personality type has a different idea
of what it means to be successful. Self-knowledge is one common goal that will help everyone
achieve personal success. So many people are hung up on somebody else's idea of what it means
to be successful, and they are unaware of what is truly important to them. What we personally
believe to be truly important is due to a difference in perspective. Realizing what is truly
important to us is a major step towards achieving personal success. First being able to understand
what organizational behavior is and how the knowledge of how it is implemented within an
PROJECT 1 7
organization is powerful and important to the success of the organization. Organizational
behavior investigates the impact that individuals, groups, and structure have on behavior within
organizations, for the purpose of applying such knowledge toward improving an organization’s
effectiveness (Robbins & Judge, 2007). My role in an organization would allow me to bring the
team work and contributions to the team, according to Type Talk at Work text book.
Understanding the result of my personality as well as others is going to help me succeed
in within an organization as well as in life. I learned what it takes to bring the strengths and
weaknesses together and have them work together. For an example if one of the strengths of an
INFJ individual is high expectations and individual with an ETSJ personality are working
together, and now with the knowledge I have gained from this assignment I am now able to
recognize the ETSJ person of the group and know that their weaknesses are inefficient and
sloppy; now armed with this knowledge I can deal with that particular individual accordingly.
One way I may deal with a situation like this is take charge of the writing since ETSJ
personalities are sloppy, but also another weakness of an ETSJ personality is they always want to
be in charge so, what I will do is let them be in charge while an INFJ personality does the writing
or take notes for the group. This practice is the leadership quality that INFJ individuals consist
of. INFJ personalities will provide inspirational and visionary direction (Kroeger, 2002).
