Abstract
For many years people have used to Jung Typology test as a means to see a person’s preference
when it comes to making decisions, dealing and relating to people, processing information, and
organizing your own life. It also gives insight on your personality and how well you can mesh
with coworkers or even show you what career path you should pursue. This test can tell you how
well you can operate or what type of manager you would be. There are multiple possibilities and
outcomes associated with the test but after taking it twice, it is very accurate. The results are
effective and really can provide you with a different perspective when it comes to deciding what
career path you may want to pursue. I feel as if this test is necessary because not many people
truly know what they want to do or what field they will most likely fit into. The test did reveal
some things I already knew about myself but the results that came as a surprise really gave me a
path that I would not have thought about without taking this test.

Big 5 with Meyers Briggs
As an extravert, there is rarely a time I just sit back and go with the flow. “Being extroverted,
their focus involves organization of people, which translates into supervision” (ESTJ, 2019). I
will do any and everything in my power to run thing smoothly and get everyone involved. This
trait pushed me to be successful and pull the most out of my teammates. “….ESTJs is content to
enforce “the rules”, often dictates by tradition or handed down from a higher authority” (ESTJ,
2019). Rules are set in place to guide you towards perfection. “Paying attention to physical
reality, what I see, hear, touch, taste, and smell” (“Sensing or Intuition”, 2019). The numbers,
percentages, and growth numbers are all concrete evidence that show the actual results. “What
you see is what you get” is a quote that I love to use. I am not very big on possibilities or
forecasts. These things can change and aren’t very likely to display what will or has transpired.
Experience is the best teacher. Instead of researching and testing possible outcomes, I would
rather experience it and learn from that. I personally like to over analyze situations and take my
time before making decisions but I felt as if everyone did that. But after doing my research it was
very fitting for me to receive this. “People with the Thinking (T) trait seek logic and rational
arguments, relying on their head rather than their heart” (“Nature: Thinking vs. Feeling “, 2019).
In every situation I do my best to make a decision based off of logic and rationality. I feel that if
you make decisions based upon emotion or your heart it’s selfish and biased. Being a branch
manager, I cannot allow my judgment to be clouded by emotion because it may not be good for
the branch itself. It isn’t difficult to make choices based upon logic because it forces you to
decide things that will benefit both sides so no one loses. Thinking types tend to be less
emotional when it comes to things such as charities. “Thinking types are significantly less likely

to give to charities or be touch by their emotional appeals- however, does this mean that they are
unwilling to help? (Nature: Thinking vs. Feeling”, 2019). I personally don’t give to charities. I
don’t feel as if many people are genuine when it comes to those and the emotional side of it does
not appeal to me. I feel more comfortable donating directly to their doctor bills because this is
more logical. “Judgers approach life in a structured way, creating plans and organizing their
world to achieve their goals and desired results in a predictable way” (“Judging vs. Perceiving”,
2019). From the moment I wake up till the time I close my eyes to sleep, I crave structure. From
being an extravert who does not mind correcting someone, to my thinking side that does not
move until there is a logical choice in the picture, the thinking trait really encompasses what I
really am as a person.. This judging trait more than likely comes from my upbringing. The
judging trait has driven me to success because I refuse to waste time.
Attitude and Core Value Insights
As a manager, I hold the core values to a very high standard because I had to demonstrate these
values in order to be hired. Our company attitude is very positive and we strive to get better with
how we manage our customers as well as employees every day. Team building events and
community service are things we take pride in and they help us build a better attitude as well as
pushing company values to the forefront.
Motivation Insights
As an employee inside my company I have to be self motivated because I don’t really have that
big of an influence in such a large company. There isn’t much I can do at the organizational level
either to change things inside the company either unless they are short term or on a day to day
Personality Insights 5
basis. But to motivate myself I push myself to compete so that when the time comes that I can be
promoted, the hard work I have put in will not go unnoticed. I feel as if motivation comes from
within and if you cannot motivate yourself, then no amount of money or congratulations will be
able to motivate you.
Decision Making/Problem Solving Insight
When it comes to decision making it is all about how trustworthy you are. As a manager, the first
thing that comes to mind is can I trust you to make a smart and logical decision for the greater
good of the company. If so, then I will not have to step in and offer insight on every situation that
arises. Giving an employee the freedom to make these type decisions give them a different type
of motivation because you are not overwhelming them and you are allowing them to be their
own person. This feeling is self fulfilling. Also if a contingency perspective manager allows an
employee to show themselves trust worthy, the manager will definitely trust them more.
Working with Others
Communication Competency and Listening Style
Most times young employees feel as if they have little to no voice inside of a large
company/corporation. This can be very discouraging and even can push the employee into
pursuing another occupation. As a manager you have to ensure that you are a great listener and
communicate with your employees daily to see what they are thinking. If you keep an open door
policy, this will help because your employees will know that they can come to you about
anything and this will help with your retention rate.

Leadership Readiness and Team Insights
Being a supportive communicator can go a long way as to employee retention and getting your
point across to employees. An organization with a supportive communication climate breeds
higher employee satisfaction and commitment. This will boost morale and you will get the most
out of your employees. There are multiple ways to boost morale but this type atmosphere is
undefeated when it comes to boosting the attitude and mood in the office.
Conflict Tendencies/Style
When you are coming into a job, it can be difficult to know whether or not the office is already
well managed or if the climate is upbeat. You could possibly be walking into a tense climate and
not know. But your managerial style could change the entire climate of the office/workplace.
Keeping an open mind and bringing in a upbeat attitude could help you in many ways.
Life in Organizations
Organizational Policies
It is very common for managers to not be informed with company policies. Some managers get
forced into the position without proper training and it cannot be helped. But organizational
policies are key components of running a successful company. As a manager I take the time out
of my day to brush up on these policies because at the end of the day you have to know them.
They are essential because it will help critical situations become easier to deal with.
Personality Insights 7
Organizational Need-Employees Satisfaction
The best way to figure out organizational needs is to ask the employees who are putting in the
time and effort on a day to day basis. These are the people who can make the largest impact
because they keep the company going. The answers you will receive from them will be different
than the ones you receive from upper management because the employees have a more hands on
perspective. In my company, the majority of our managers was hired as a different position and
worked their way into being a manger and this is crucial. This allows them to use their insight
from working in the office and knowing day to day operations, to create new policies to benefit
the company.
Organizational Change and Climate
Organizational change is something we will all have to deal with at some point in our careers. As
a manager you have to bring in some characteristics that will help ensure your success. Being
sensitive to cultural differences, courage, and integrity are just a few of these characteristics. You
will encounter people of all nationalities and ethnicities so you have to make sure you are
sensitive to every ones culture and are a great listener.
In General….
I learned a lot about being a better employee and manger throughout this assignment. I learned
how to take the time out to really study your employees and even to figure out what kind of
manger I am. These things are essential when it comes to running a successful office or branch
and it doesn’t matter what field you are in.
Personality Insights 8
In Particular…
In particular I learned how promoting a supportive communication atmosphere in the office
could be so beneficial. In our branch it can be easy to not lift your head up to speak to one
another due to the busy nature of the office. But creating this type of environment has brought
out a different side of my employees and the dialogue has increased. This really has been the
most beneficial tip.
God has really helped me transform some of my weaknesses into what I would call my strengths
now. As a child I was fearful to speak up for myself and it caused me to be taken advantage of.
As I grew older I prayed for the confidence to be bold and ask for the things that I desired or
worked for. “Closed mouths don’t get fed”, is what my grandmother would say. But in this day
and age, that trait is what makes me stick out when it comes to applications or interviews. I am
an excellent communicator and I have no trouble getting my point across. This is why I received
the Extrovert trait on my Temperament test.
