3. Look up the following verses and explain each verse individually and how it fits the story
of Cain and Abel:
John 8:44 Jesus is speaking to the Pharisees about who He is and who they are. The statement
“He was a murderer from the beginning” is a reference to Cain killing Abel.
I John 3:12. This verse is a reference to Cain outwardly worshipping God but by murdering Abel
revealed inwardly to be a child of the devil.
Hebrews 11:4 Because of Abel’s obedience and faith in his sacrifice, it was considered
righteous by God. Cain was just going through the motions in disobedience not showing
authentic faith.
Hebrews 12:24 Jesus is the Mediator of the new covenant, the blood of Abel’s sacrifice only
offered a temporary covering of sin, but Christ’s blood gives us eternal forgiveness.
4. Where did Cain get his wife? Support your answer from the Bible. The Bible says Cain went
to Nod, east of Eden, and knew his wife. (Genesis 4:16-17)
5. Offer two explanations as to why the patriarchs lived so long. In the pre-flood environment the
earth was under a canopy of water that would have blocked ultraviolet rays which would have
made a more healthy living area.
6. How do we know the birth order of Noah’s sons? Be specific. Ham is consistently referred to
as the youngest (Genesis 9:24). Genesis 5:32 states Noah was 500 years old when he began to
have sons. Genesis 11:10 notes Shem was 100 years old two years after the flood, when Noah
was 602. This suggests Shem was born when Noah was about 502 years old, implying Japheth (if
born when Noah was 500) was older than Shem.
7. When did Methuselah die (how old, relation to flood)? Methuselah died at the age of 969. He
died the first year of the flood, 187 (Methuselah’s age at Lamech’s birth) + 182 (Lamech’s age at
Noah’s birth) + 600 (Noah’s age at the flood) = 969 years.

about Noah:
6:9 Noah walked with God and was perfect in his generation.
6:22 Noah did all that God commanded him to do.
7:1 — 5 The Lord said Noah was righteous before Him, and did all He commanded.
7:16 Noah was able to get all the animals on board the ark and God shut them in.
8:15 — 18 Noah was commanded to come out of the ark with all the creatures and be fruitful
and multiply.
13. Which one of the reasons given for a universal flood stands out the most to you? That man’s
sinfulness caused God to judge the world, and that divine judgment on the world could happen
again. In 2 Peter 3:5–6, Peter addresses those who doubt the reality of divine judgment by
reminding them that "the world that then existed was deluged with water and perished." He uses
the historical flood to argue that just as God judged the world in Noah's time, future judgment is
also certain by fire.

made not just with Noah, but with all his descendants and every living creature. God pledges
never again to destroy the earth with a flood, regardless of humanity’s behavior. The rainbow is
established as the visible sign of this covenant.
18. What did the curse on Canaan include? That the Israelites would defeat the Canaanites in
future battle.
19. How has this curse been fulfilled? (see Joshua 16:10) The curse was fulfilled when Joshua
led the Israelites to defeat the Canaanites.
20. If Noah’s ark were discovered today, would it change the way people view the Bible? I
believe it would not because other things have been proven historically accurate and this has
not changed the world’s view on the Bible. Scripture and the words of Christ have to be
accepted by faith.

Misunderstood.
1. That the animals went in 2 by 2. This was only the unclean animals. Clean animals went in by
7’s.
2. The flood lasted 40 days and 40 nights. That’s how long the rain lasted the flood lasted over a
year.
3. The ark was not a round-bottomed boat.
4. That the ark was not universal but localized. If this was true then God would have lied
because he said he would not destroy the with water again.
