Exodus Interpretive Essay
1. The importance of God filling the tabernacle was to give Israel a visible center of worship.
This shows the tabernacle was a way to bring God's glory and to be in his presence. In the bible
it shows this in Exodus 40:34 then the cloud covered the tabernacle, and the glory of the Lord
filled the tabernacle”. Furthermore, Moses also spoke to God when he entered the tabernacle face
to face; Moses demonstrates the importance of the tabernacle because he was always given
instructions through the tent meeting that was present there. God presents to us by Moses the
foreshadowing of Jesus Christ being the way to be in the presence of God; The Ark of the
Covenant in the tabernacle is showing the holy of holiness to provide a visual of God's presence.
In addition to the importance of the tabernacle it shows the construction of the tabernacle was to
provide a spiritual vision of the work of Christ of his coming.
The importance of the filling of the tabernacle connects to the New Testament and the
relationship between the believers and the holy spirit is how we now gain a relationship with
God being in his presence through his son Jesus Christ. In the ark of the covenant, it was an
unforeseen connection to Jesus Christ. When Jesus died and resurrected, he left the helper which
his spirit the holy spirit. In Isaiah 63:11 Then His people remembered the days of old, of Moses.
Where is He who brought them up out of the sea with the shepherds of His flock?
Where is He who put His Holy Spirit in the midst of them. This shows how our God can
interrupt our schedule by filling us with his presence. As in Acts 2:1-4 “When the day of
Pentecost came, they were all together in one place. Suddenly a sound like the blowing of a
violent wind came from heaven and filled the whole house where they were sitting. They saw
what seemed to be tongues of fire that separated and came to rest on each of them. All of them
were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled. This

tells us Jesus was the true tabernacle because Moses foreshadowed the relationship, he had with
Christ face to face was like having a relationship with Christ through his holy spirit so we can
worship in spirit and truth. The tabernacle was a place for worship and to congregate with others;
like the temple of God today, which also means our body is a temple of God so we must allow
good influence in our lives not bad ones.
In conclusion, how the freedom the Israelites experienced after Exodus relates to freedom in
Christ now in my life. The answer was always Jesus Christ since the beginning. Like it says in
the bible our source to God John 1:14 says “So the Word became human and made his home
among us. He was full of unfailing love and faithfulness. And we have seen his glory, the glory
of the Father’s one and only Son”. Reading this helps us understand that freedom comes from
Christ and if we want it we have to find it by putting our fleshy needs to the side and picking up
our cross and following him. God did not create us for us to act like robots feel controlled, but he
gave free will to serve him. In Galatians 5:13“For you were called to freedom, brothers. Only do
not use your freedom as an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another “In my
own life freedom in Christ is basically me acknowledging Christ that I'm weak and I need help of
a savior to save me from death of sin because the flesh is deceiving. Jesus in the center of life is
the freedom from being enslaved to sin and that's how in the Old Testament God shows us Moses
to help Israelites to be free from being enslaved to Egypt and their sins. In Christ we find the true
freedom in God's presence no one else can give that Amen.
