Passage: Acts19:11-22
A. How does this passage from Acts fit within the metanarrative of the Bible? State what
type of story you believe this to be (creation, fall, redemption, or new creation) and
explain why you believe this to be so? Your explanation should be 1 paragraph (150-300
words) in length. It may be good to review chapter 6 in Everyday Bible Study to recall
what each of these four themes are about.
Acts 19:11–22 tells the story of God working miracles through Paul and is similar to the
Bible's metanarrative's Redemption theme. It is the goal of the redemption story to save
humanity from its sins. The scripture describes miracles worked through Paul in Acts
19:11–22. Evil spirits would vanish from people when they touched Paul's clothing. Paul
would also invoke the name of Jesus to drive out evil spirits. The same Jesus who was
crucified and died at Calvary to atone for our sins, and through whom redemption was
made possible. The scripture goes on to describe how the word of the Lord was spreading
throughout the nation and how witnesses of the miracles were compelled to publicly
confess their sins. The promises of God were witnessed by these witnesses, and
B. How does yourtheologicalprinciple fromActs19:11-22fit with the rest of the Scripture?
Thisprinciple is the one you have written out in 1-3 sentences in the
InterpretationAssignment. If yourtheologicalprinciple is a true Biblicalprinciple,it will
be reflected throughout the Scriptures.Where is thetheologicalprinciple discovered in
this New Testament narrative found elsewhere in the Scriptures? Your explanation should
be 1 paragraph (150-300words) in length.Be specific.Give, explain, and cite your
supporting passage(s) from Scripture.
This passage clearly illustrates the theological idea that "there is true power in the name
of Jesus which cannot be used by those who do not have a relationship with him."
Initially, when Paul exorcised demonic spirits, he was uttering the name of Jesus. In order
for the father to be exalted in the son, I will grant whatever you ask in my name,
according to John 14:13–14. I will fulfill any requests you make in my name. "Jesus, I
know, and Paul I know about, but who are you?" an evil spirit reportedly said to the
Seven Sons in Acts 19:15. This verse demonstrates that calling on the name of the Lord
in vain is unhelpful for someone who is not connected to him. Acts 4:12 provides the
rationale for this. "And no one else can save us, for there is no other name under heaven
that has been given to mankind that can save us." Jesus attests to this in John 14:6,
saying, "I am the way, and the truth, and the life." Nobody else but through me can
approach the Father.
C. How doesyour theological principle from thispassageinActsreflect the person and
work of Jesus Christ?State and explain at least one way that thetheologicalprinciple of

Verse 2:9–11 in Philippians God has therefore freely given Jesus the name that is above
all names, greatly exalting Him, so that at the mention of His name everyone will bow,
including those in heaven, on earth, and beneath it, and everyone will acknowledge that
Jesus Christ is Lord, to the glory of God the Father. Jesus has been regarded as superior
to everyone for a very particular reason, as this verse makes abundantly evident.
According to the presence of His grace, Ephesians 1:7 states, "In Him we have
redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins." The savior is none other than
Jesus. The fact that Jesus is the savior is evidence of God's love for his creation. As is
said in John 3:16 “For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that
whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.”
