There is a connection between leadership and failure when God is in it. God turns failures into
leaders. (Hindson, 2017 p. 61). We must be able to trust that God knows what He is doing even
when we can’t see Him moving. Nothing that happens to us is wasted. The failure of the past or
present is a test that brings us closer to Christ.
Learn from your mistake: it really doesn’t matter what your background is. You can either
benefit from it, or you can rise above it. God will always use your background, even with its
limitations, to prepare you for what He wants you to do in life. (Hindson 2017, p. 64). If we
commit our lives to God, he can use our background as a tool to reach others. Moses’ ability to
communicate as an Egyptian made him the perfect candidate to set God’s people free. Our past
should not be thought of as something shameful, but we can bring God glory by using the drama
or trauma of the past as an avenue to witness Christ.
We might not know when God gives us second chances. Moses saw a burning bush and went to
investigate. Sometimes the Holy Spirit speaks to us or shows us a sign and all He is asking is that
we don’t ignore but take the time to investigate, ask question until we find the answer. The
burning bush caught his attention and he said, “I’m going to turn aside and see this great sight.
This bush is on fire and is not consumed!” (Hindson 2017, p. 65).
Tom,
It is true that God is always present the bible said He will never leave you nor forsake you; do
not be fear nor be dismayed Deu31:8b. God had a purpose for Moses right from birth, that when
the king started killing off all the male children, Moses’ mother was able to save him and He was
then raised in the palace by Pharaoh’s daughter. Even when Moses killed an Egyptian and ran
into the wilderness, God was there. The person born in poverty, but raised in prosperity, now
ended up living in obscurity on the backside of the desert. It was almost as though God had given
up on him. God was preparing him for an even greater and more effective ministry in the future.
It might have seemed that God forgot about the Israelites, but God was watching and heard them
(Hindson 2017, p. 63). God had a special plan for us, we might not know or understand it. Moses
thought he killed that Egyptian on pure impulse, but God was going to use his exile for forty
years to prepare him for the task ahead of him. “So now, go. I am sending you to Pharaoh to
bring my people the Israelites out of Egypt,” God told him (Exodus 3:10). (Hindson (2017). (p.
65). Moses got used to his new life so when God came calling, he was not going without a fight.
He gave all sorts of excuse why he couldn’t go, but he finally gave up and listened. God said to
him, “Say to the Israelites: ‘I am has sent me’” (Exodus 3:14). (Hindson (2017, p. 66).

Daniel,
I love your right up about faith. Hindson, 2019 (p.17) said Faith is simply belief in the object of
our trust. The bible said in Hebrews 11: 6 “But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he
that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek
him.” Faith is what draws to God and him to us. Faith is a starting point in our spiritual life. We
must begin with God, believe that He exist, care and that the love He gives us is real (Hindson
(2017, p. 17). Abraham trusted God, even when his name was Abram. He trusted that God would
do what He promised. God changed his name, yet he had no child. When we are willing to heed
God’s call like Abram, not knowing what lies ahead, Significant moves are never easy. But most
likely there was a time when uncertainty settled in.” (Hindson (2017, p. 21).
I learned that Abraham was just a man like us. He had a promise from God, yet he implemented
his plan B, because they got tired of waiting for God. Abram and Sarai put reason above
revelation. God had clearly spoken, but it didn’t make sense to Sarai. Every time we try to read
between the lines of divine revelation, we put reason above revelation. (Hindson (2017, p. 24)
The other thing I learned was that Abraham was willing to give up his Isaac though he had
waited for him for years. I wonder if I will be able to do the same?
