It has been shown throughout history Christians have the capability of being
intolerant and judgmental. There are cases in history the of the Bible as well, let us
look in one Samuel sixteen: seven (New International Version) “But the Lord said to
Samuel, “Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The
Lord does not look at the things man looks at. Man looks at outward appearance, but
the Lord looks at the heart”.” This is just one occasion where a Christian was
judgmental against another, there are many more throughout the Bible. People have
heard about or saw where a Christian was intolerant toward a person for the way they
acted or toward another religious community. You may have seen a Christian being
judgmental against someone for how they dressed, or for believing or not believing.
Now, on the other hand, “The bible does teach Christians are to be
tolerant.”1(315) Also, “When Christians uphold the Bible’s truth claims they are not
attempting to be intolerant, but to be accurate.”2 (315) Who are we to judge one
another, God is the only judge. And as such, “Despite our imperfections, we were
created capable of authentic, compassionate relationship both with God and with
others.”3(45)
Based on Confronting Religious Judgmentalism: Conscience is a great
alternative to judgmentalism. It is a basis for respect, humility, and
collaboration. I can provide an intellectually. rigorous, spiritually subtle,
emotionally satisfying way to fend off shame, inadequacy, and
chronically second-guessing ourselves.4 (117)

Now that we have covered Christians, let us discuss secular people. They can also
be intolerant and judgmental. They have been this way throughout history also, think
back to Caesar and Paul, and there are others. Seculars’ need help and “One way to help
others see their blind spots is to trace out where their assumptions and beliefs will
ultimately lead if they are applied consistently.”4(216) If we are true Christians, with
being compassionate and loving they will see that and want to apply it consistently. But,
if they see any sign of intolerance or judgement going on, we lost their respect and
attention, they will think we are frauds and God is nothing. “Most Unbelievers and
relativists mistakenly respond that exclusivism is narrowminded and intolerant,
forgetting that truth is always narrow and always rejects it is opposite.56(313) With that
being said, it is known throughout history all people have been at one time or another

intolerant or judgmental. With the way the world is going now a days secular people and
Christians are having a time finding their way. Timothy Keller in his book the Reason for
God: “many see both sides in the “culture war: making individual freedom and personal
happiness and ultimate value rather than God and common good”.7(xxvi) Back to the
Bible there was a time when had a wrath on mankind for worshipping man, animal idol,
instead of God.

Here is his wrath in Romans one: twenty-six and twenty-seven (NIV), “Because of this,
God gave them over to shameful lusts. Even their women exchanged
natural relations for unnatural. ones. In the same way the men also
abandoned natural relations with women and were inflamed with lust
for one another. Men committed indecent acts with other men and
received in themselves the due penalty for their perversion.”
With Christian compassion and love and respect we can help them get back to God. If
they are struggling with sexual ethics, we need to show and lead them to Deuteronomy
twentythree: seventeen and eighteen (NIV), “No Israelite man or woman is to become a shrine
prostitute. You must not bring the earnings of a female prostitute or of a male prostitute into
the house of the Lord your God to pay any vow, because the Lord your God detest them both.”
Another verse to lead them to that will bring it all together for the secular people and the
Christians would be One Corinthian six: nine (NIV) “Don’t you know that the unrighteous will
not inherit God’s kingdom? Do not be deceived: No sexually immoral people, idolaters,
adulterers, or males who have sex with males, and some of you used to be like this. But you
were washed, you were sanctified, you justified in the name of the Lord Jesus Christ and by the
Spirit of our God.” We have also heard the man wears the pants not the woman, which comes
from Deuteronomy twenty-two: five (NIV), “A woman must not wear man’s clothing, nor a man
wear woman’s clothing, for the Lord your God detest anyone who does this.” With
Deuteronomy and Corinthian this covers everyone in the world, there is no if, ands, or buts. It is

all there black and white in the Bible to read and absorb and understand. God is the judge; He
will cover everyone.

With the freedom of living where you want to live and deciding which man you want to be with,
what career to have for the future the desires and fulfillment will all be there. The Devil is where
the disaster strikes the tainted desires and need to live unnatural lifestyles. He warps the mind
and puts blinders on, so you see his side and hear his tainted words. The Devil works on secular
and Christians the same, he does not segregate, just as God does not segregate but, God does
judge, save and forgive. For He is King, and Lord of Lords.
