Discussion Thread: Clarify and Execute the Action Plan
Rapport and Relational Alignment
As we transition into Phase 3, it remains crucial for me to maintain and strengthen the rapport
established with Brody. Given Brody's proactive stance, characterized by a willingness to
engage, my approach involves continued recognition of his contributions. This approach aligns
with the idea that acknowledging Brody's efforts serves to "help people accept themselves and
feel real support from the listener." This commitment positions me as a supportive listener,

driven by the aspiration to ensure the well-being and happiness of all involved, while
simultaneously "inspiring and supporting others while providing clear answers that solve
problems."2
In navigating Phase 3, my strategy involves refraining from offering overly direct answers.
Instead, I aim for Brody to take an active role in shaping the actions necessary to achieve the
goals collaboratively identified. This approach is rooted in the belief that empowering Brody to
craft his own strategies fosters a sense of ownership and responsibility. It resonates with the idea
that "When we acknowledge the counselee as the expert, we are recognizing the resourcefulness
that proceeds from his own personal history and grace events." Therefore, if Brody played a

pivotal role in formulating the goals, it follows that he possesses the insight needed to determine
the most effective action plan for realizing these goals in his life.4

Phase Three Distinctive Features
Purpose
As deliberated during Phase 2, Brody has engaged with miracle questions that have spurred
contemplation on "what life will look like when the problem is absent or less severe." This

contemplation envisions a life characterized by an abundance of love, affirmation, and the
tangible presence of his father. Consequently, Brody has discerned his purpose, aspiring to
