REFLECTION PAPER
The Ethics system is a system that regroup all the moral values that we go through every
day. For example, abortion, war, etc.… it is the Principe of what is right and is wrong for a
person. If the actions that we are doing are ethically right or wrong. It is a system branch who
basically deal with the religious aspect to it. There are six major ethics systems. The first one is
the antinomianism against or instead of law. It states that there are no moral laws. Everything is
relative, which means that you decide which is right for you. The system does not believer that
God has given us laws. There are no objective laws that are connecting all human beings. It stats
that individual decides to leave by law. Moral values change depending on the place, and
depending on the time. Antinomianism does not have any moral values, which is very self-
destructive. The best example will be like playing a football game without rules, and without
referees and without a coaching staff. Everyone does what is right in their own eyes. This system
is set to fail because individual cannot function without common rules. Secondly, The situations
system. It only has one tenet. The law of love. Love is the law of everything. No other laws or
rules make sense unless it is related to love. This system does sound good but at the same time
does not because you can justify sinning with love. The third system is generalism. According to
this, there are some moral principles binding people together. However, none of those moral laws
are considered to be absolute. It states that bad things will and should happen when individuals

do “bad” things. For example: If you kill somebody, you will go to jail, or if you cheat on an
exam you will get a failure grade. They never break a rule unless it is needed or have a conflict
with someone. At any time, it is possible that any action can be justified. All the first three
system mentioned above are all non-absolutisms which means that they have all none Christians
values because antinomianism has no more laws, situationism claims to have one absolute law
but it mostly depends on the situation and generalism has some general laws but no absolute
law. The three next categories are absolutism categories which means they all believe in God’s
ultimate authority and absolute. If it is not something that gives glory to God then it is wrong.
Unqualified absolutism tents are that moral conflicts do not exit. God is the same person that he
was yesterday. His nature does not change. God cannot contradict himself like the book of
Numbers 23:19 said “God is not a man, that He should lie, nor a son of man, that He should
repent; Has He said, and will He not do it? Or has He spoken, and will He not make it good? In
this law, the unchanging nature of God is the main aspect of it. The single most popular position
among Christians is unqualified absolutism. Its presupposition is that laws are absolute and
without qualification whereby they are to be broken. The premises of this view are that ethical
laws are never in any real conflict, all apparent conflicts are not real, and sin is always avoidable
and is never acceptable under any circumstances. While there are different ways to reason
unqualified absolutism, all Christian unqualified absolutists would base their conclusion in the
fact that God is characteristically unchangeable; moral laws flow from His nature and contain
His immutable character; God never contradicts Himself, hence no moral laws ever conflict; all
conflicts are only apparent and not real, hence moral laws are never to be broken. Next, there is
the conflicting absolutism system. The principal beliefs are that: there is forgiveness when you
repent for your sin, God’s moral law is absolute and binding on all, and when is there is a moral
Akuesson 3
conflict and an individual is struggling with a sin, he or she has the duty to do the lesser evil.
Lastly, the last system is graded absolutism. We break the law because of our sinful nature with
no guilt attach to it. Believe that some laws are above others and some. There are a higher and
lower moral duties, for example, obey God over your government. Love for God over love for
man, and there is an obligation to follow the higher moral law which is always obey God’s law.
The one system that I which most identify with is unqualified absolutism. Romans 2:14-15 says
that for when the Gentiles, which have not the law, do by nature the things contained in the law,
these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves: Which shew the work of the law written in
their hearts, their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or
else excusing one another. I identify with this system because it tells us to obey the rules of God
without questions. In the Bible, when God says do not kill he did not give us a why we should
not kill, he just told us not to and I believe that our faith should be like that. We are called to just
believe and obey God without asking questions.
