When managing a company’s money, many examples come to mind about how managing
money improperly for others, will turn around to get you in the end. Proverbs 28:22 says, “A
stingy man hastens after wealth and does not know that poverty will come upon him”. If all you
look for in life is the next gold mine, you will miss the picture of your life standing in front of
you.
Managing a company’s money by an outside source; usually an accounting firm is the
best way to go about managing a company’s money and keeping their financial affairs in order.
Managing a company’s money carries with it a lot of responsibility. You are not only able to
affect the people that work for the company and their livelihoods, but the investors in that
company as well. Looking at a company from the outside, you will see that properly managing
the finances for a company is essential to their success.
“Fraud, and the role of ethics in reducing fraud, are important factors in running business
operations. Fraud involves the use of one’s job for personal gain through the deliberate misuse
of the employer’s assets” (Wild, Shaw, & Chiappetta, 2013, p. 737). Many businesses lose
millions of dollars yearly because of internal fraudulent acts, usually when a team of people are
behind the fraud. It is harder for one person to fraudulently steal from the company than it is for
a team to. Coordination between many members of an office staff is the easiest way to cover
accounting losses because of the strategic job each member plays in the theft.
Proverbs 11:14 says “where there is no guidance, a people falls, but in abundance of
counselors there is safety”. While you may be confident in your ability to perform your job, be it
accounting of anything to do with money for a company, it is always better to work as a team.
Not only are you able to catch a mistake that someone else has made, but you are able to sanity
check each other’s work to ensure there are no discrepancies that were overlooked. The last thing

you want is to have your character called into question and lose your job and the trust that you
have built with your employers. In Ecclesiastes 9:10, wisdom is given in the advice to doing a
job: “Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might, for there is no work or thought or
knowledge or wisdom in Sheol, to which you are going”. Do your job with everything you have,
you never know where the path you are on may lead.
