Vision
In my ideal educational classroom setting, all Pre-K through 8th-grade students with IEPs
will have a great conceptual understanding of math and a positive attitude towards it. By
adopting data-informed and co-developed lessons, I aim to help students build foundational math
concepts that can be applied in more advanced courses and in life.
Purpose
The proposed math curriculum for the learners with IEP is aimed at catering to the
learning needs of every learner, as stated in the IEP. Thus, incorporating UDL principles into
instruction, the curriculum will ensure multiple options for students' representation, action, and
engagement based on their learning preferences and needs.
Benefits for Students
Increased Engagement: The curriculum will incorporate differentiated instruction,
hands-on activities, and assistive technology to cater to various learning styles and ensure
active participation.
Improved Math Skills: A focus on Stress in computation rather than memorization of facts will
help the learner gain a deeper understanding of the principles of mathematics. Students will learn
problem-solving techniques that meet real-life situations and demonstrate critical thinking skills.
Enhanced Confidence: By mastering challenging yet achievable math tasks, students will gain
confidence in their mathematical abilities and experience the joy of discovery in math.

Effective Instruction: In this regard, the curriculum will assist the teachers by offering
defined learning expectations and formative and summative tests to guide how to address
the various subgroups in the classroom.

on the shared effective teaching strategies for students with IEPs.
