Lecture Series Assignment
Over the course of the semester, you will learn more about the W. P. Carey School of Business and ASU from
members of our distinguished MBA graduate assistants. Presenters have been chosen from different backgrounds
and experiences to speak on a variety of business and soft skills topics at the Tempe, Poly and West campuses.
You will be required to view a lecture series and write brief reflections in class to three lectures during the
semester. Please visit the Lecture Series link provided on Canvas for a full calendar of lectures. There are 50
points possible for the assignment. You will receive 10 points for your attendance to the lecture and up to 40
points for the assignment that is submitted to Canvas by the deadline week, prior to class.
To verify your attendance at on-campus lectures, staff members will swipe your ASU Sun Card (Student ID) when
the lecture is over. After attending a lecture, you will write a brief reflection assignment about the lecture
content. You must attend –AND- submit these lecture reflections in Canvas to earn points for the assignment; no
partial credit will be awarded for just attending a lecture.
To submit your reflection you will complete the first two questions during the lecture and the last two questions
after the lecture. It will be helpful to bring this document to the lecture. Once completed you will submit the
Lecture Assignment to Canvas, in the week it is due. If you cannot attend a lecture, contact your facilitator and
they can explain how to make up the points missed.

Geoff Huston
Strategic From The Start
The topic was very similar to what i was expecting. I figured that it would be about how to stratrgically plan
for the future from the start rather than procrastinating and hurting yourself later on.However I did not
expect so many of Huston's real life stories that inspired me to really be strategic and how important the
future is. Also, the statistics he showed proved hoe it can truly hurt you to not plan in advance.
After this lecture, I am very motivated to meet with a councilor and make sure I am on the correct path for a
successful future. I know now how important internships/leadership positions are for my future and also want
to look into those so I can be a competive candidate for a great job after i graduate.
I would definitely recommend this lecture to another classmate. Especially to someone who is not feeling
motivated or has lack of insiration towards their future. Another classmate this lecture would be helpful
for someone who thinks that they can breeze through college without taking internships/leadership
positions, because there are only so many jobs available fore business majors after college; everyone will
be competing for the same jobs.
