How do social conditions—including faith, culture, and trust—affect patient and provider
relationships?
Social factors that impact communication styles, treatment preferences, and decision-
making processes include faith, culture, and trust. These factors have a significant impact on the
interactions between patients and providers (Drossman & Ruddy, 2020). These elements
influence how people understand health information, choose medical treatments, and
communicate with healthcare professionals.
In your own words, explain why a traditional model (The paternalistic model is the
traditional model, in which the physician or provider is viewed as an expert authority on
health care, including the values of that health care — things such as extending life, curing
disease, and reducing pain. The provider plays the role of a parent or guardian, and the
patient assents to the provider’s authority.) is unsuitable for promotion of health in many
situations.
The paternalistic model translates to less patient autonomy, with no consideration for
patient's values regarding their illness. However, it has been found to provide solution-oriented
services that do not consider the variability of patients' needs or even their wishes (Drossman &
Ruddy, 2020). The new approach to Health care seeks to involve the patients in decisions that
regard their health as their unique situation.
Summarize how implicit bias in healthcare affects patient and provider relationships.
Differential treatment based on colour, ethnicity, gender, or other factors can result from
implicit bias in healthcare, which can affect clinical judgments, communication, and patient
outcomes. It erodes confidence and can keep gaps in health outcomes between various
demographic groups alive.

Provide an example of how you will use the four components of empathy in your
professional career.
Empathy is a crucial concept in my professional practice, which I will show in various
ways. To address the objective, I will incorporate perspective-taking to comport myself to the
patients' communication styles and try to understand their viewpoints. One more key concept
specific to the situation is to avoid moralism while acknowledging the patient's preferences and
decisions. Emotions are crucial; I assure patients I recognise their sentiments incredibly when
disclosing information. Verbal and paralinguistic relation features will play a significant role in
conveying understanding from the nurse's side to the patient and vice versa, which, in turn, will
help develop the trustful relationship between the same parties (Drossman & Ruddy, 2020). They
are crucial for ensuring chaplaincy in healthcare facilities, with an increased emphasis on the
ideological principles of caring for patients.
