1. I took this course because this is the degree that I am pursuing. Not only was it a requirement
but I wanted to make sure that this field is where I want to be. I wanted to ensure that I felt I was
on the right path by pursuing this degree and that my interest in this field wasn’t just because of
the things I had seen on TV so many years ago, that my interest was correct in what I thought it
would be about. I wanted to learn more about the history or forensic psychology and exactly
what it entails. My education goal is the goal insight right now, which is finishing my BA in
Forensic Psychology, moving on to my Master’s in Forensic Psychology here at ASU, and then
finding the right Ph.D. program and pursuing my Doctorate in Forensic Psychol following that. My
career goal would be to own my own forensic psychology practice and be contracted with the
state or federal government one day, possibly working in one of the federal prisons.
2. I am highly interested in clinical - forensic psychologists.
3. I have studied the programs that are available after an interview I had with a professional
forensic psychologist who owns his own practice and who is contracted with the state. He
mentioned a few colleges that he recommended that provide a very good quality of education
and experience for my future. I would choose Sam Huston State University, John Jay College of
Criminal Justice, or the University of Nebraska. The reasons for choosing each of these
professors are because of their research interests. At Sam Huston State University I am
interested in working with Jaime L. Anderson whose research interests include the
conceptualization, assessment, and diagnosis of personality disorders, with particular focus on
the use of dimensional trait models in understanding personality psychopathology. Also, Marcus
Boccaccini whose research interests include adversarial allegiance in expert witness opinions,
agreement among forensic evaluators, field reliability, and validity of procedures used in forensic
assessment. At John Jay College I would want to work with Charles B. Stone who is an Associate
Professor in the Psychology Department and Director of the Doctoral Training Program. Lastly at
the University of Nebraska, I would want to work with Sarah Gervais or Richard Wiener. Sarah
Gervais’s research interests are Power, Subtle Sexism, Objectification, Sexual Harassment and the
Law, Violence against Women, and Sexual Assault. Richard Wiener’s research interests are Legal
Decision Making, Social Psychology and Policy, Law and Behavioral Science, Psychology and
Criminology.
