1977:
January 1977; George and new girlfriend Olivia fly to India, then Mexico. Two years later,
George will describe 1977 as the “year I took off from music. I went to the races.”
Jan 10th: Apple and Allen Klein settle their lawsuit, the Klein receiving over $5 million from
apple. The beatles are now legally free to reunite.
Jan 19: John and Yoko attend the presidential Inauguration for Jimmy Carter. 3rd week Wings
Over America go #1 in America.
3rd week: Rports are that Linda is expecting a baby, due in September.
1st week feb: Paul and Wings begin recording sessions for London Town album at Abbey
RoadStudio in London.
March: John and Yoko will visit Singapore, Hong Kong, and Canada. When he receives his green
card.
March 29: George Martin discusses the upcoming release of the Beatles Hollywood Bowl
conerts from the mid 60s.
April 4th: Stand By Me and Dark Horse are both released as singles in the US.
A London court rules that the beatles live at the star club and amateur recording made Germany
during their 62 shows, can be released independently.
Allen Klein is indicated on charges offailing to report nearly 250k of income from Beatles
promotional items.
Aril 29th: An instrumental version of Paul’s Ram album called Thrillington is released in UK. US
in May.
May: The recording sessions for Wings London Town album continue on a floating recording
studio located on a yacht off the Virgin Islands.
May 2nd: The Beatles Live at the Star Club in hamburg is a double album released by Lingasong
Records.
May 6: George’s Martins remixed versions of the Beatles at the Hollywood Bowl is released by
Emi
June: at Monte Carlo race rally, George and Olivia visit Ringo and Nancy. Ringo will begin work
on 4th album in Ny and LA. John, Yoko, and Sean, will spend four months visiting Japan and
Yoko’s family.
June: Beatles at the Hollywood Bowl is #1 in UK, the 12th #1 album for the beatles in UK.
June 9: georges divorce from Patti is finalized.

June 11: Beatles at the Hollywood Bowl goes to #2 in the US.
June 30: A settlement is reached in London’s high Court over the “He’s So Fine”/ My “Sweet
Lord” plagiarism case – fine and back royalties payment from George to the “He’s so Fine”
publishers.
Paul records the record-breatjig “Mull of Kintyre” which will appear on the London Town
album. The London town album was recorded in both the Uk and off the Virgin islands and was
produced by Paul. The group starts to fall apart. Joe English and guitarist McCulloch will leave
by end of 1977.
Largest hit for Paul in UK: US flop. Written by Paul, with help from Denny Lain during summer
of 1976 Paul creates the atmosphere of a traditional Scottish folk song. Title is the southern most
cape of peninsula where Paul had his farm. Aug: the basic track is recorded in Aug of 77 outside
of Cambeltown, Scotland in old barn, mobile recording unit. Paul will have the Cambletown pipe
band overdub bagpipes. The track is sentimental and nostalgic for those of Uk heritage.
A Christmas release as a single and Paul’s invite to the press to hear the final mixes in November
gave the song a publicity push to the top of the Uk charts. Mull of Kintyre will remain the
biggest selling single in the history of the UK until 19842 Live Aids “DO they know its
Christmas”
Mull of Kinyre: a ¾ acoutis guitar opens this poignant piece, Paul sings solo on the verse with a
melody derived from traditional UK folk music. Bass and a second high register ac guitar.
Aug 16: John makes a statement from Japan after Elvis’s sudden death. “Nothing really affected
me until Elvis.” While in Japan, John unknowingly gives his last “public performance” to a
Japanese couple that accidentally enters his huge hotel suite while he’s playing.
September 8th: Guitarist James Mccorith leaves Wings for small faced band.
Son James Louis McCartney is born in London to Paul and Linda.
Endo f Sept: Ringo’s album the 4th is releaed.
Oct 11: Allen Klein is indicted for tax envasion.
Mid Oct: double compilation album entitled Beatles Love Songs is released, featuring songs such
as “And I love Her”, Here There and Everywhere and I will.

Nov: Drummer Joe English elaves wings with n oreason.
Nov 11: Mull of Kintyre/Girls School single is released.
Dec: Ringo records in the Bahamas and Canada for his next album, Bad Boy as well as TV
commercials for Japanese viewers.
