There exist striking disparities among how kids learn a language as they grow. Some
infants begin speaking in one year, while others wait until their second birthday to produce
words. However, some children who are late to talk catch up with others a few months later, but
others proceed to advance their language slowly, achieving reduced levels of language
competency. Several studies have explored the disparity in language learning between kids, and
most of them focus on learners' motivation, native language, age, and exposure to a new
language. Therefore, this study examines the role of socioeconomic status in children's language
development. The aim is to comprehend how kids from advantaged families differ from
disadvantaged families regarding early language proficiency. Besides, the authors also strive to
find when SES disparities start to manifest.
Research Design
A sample of 48 English-learning infants was followed or observed longitudinally
between 18 and 24 months. First, the selection of participants was thorough and well-
coordinated, ensuring the researchers applied the suitable sample. For instance, the scholars
selected the kids based on their daycare centers and birth records. They also avoided picking kids
of preterm birth who experienced birth complications and ones with visual or hearing

Main Findings
The authors found massive differences in language and vocabulary processing
