Effects of COVID-19 on Teaching and Learning and Possible Containment Measures
The current flowing effect of COVID-19 has largely impacted instructional designs by
enhancing flexibility, adaptability, and technology incorporation in the learning process. One of
the long-term effects includes enhancing online learning platforms, which requires changing
classroom learning to online platforms (Tarkar, 2020). This change was followed by realizing the
significance of educators' and students’ digital readiness and successful online learning delivery
methods. Moreover, the pandemic also revealed the inequality in using current technology and
reliable internet connections, eventually leading teachers to devise different strategies enabling
every learner to take online classes. To avoid problems in instructional design that might arise
from future pandemics or other emergencies, educational institutions should ensure a highly
developed digital environment and constant engagement of teachers in courses related to the use
of technology in teaching. Thus, designing an effective strategy incorporating online and face-to-
face learning can provide more flexibility and work in special crises (Tarkar, 2020). Moreover, it
is agreed that important policies should be implemented in providing future policies meant to
bridge the digital divide and allow for continuity in the delivery of education in emergencies.
Conceptual Framework Review
The topic “Instructional Design During COVID-19” complements the college's
conceptual framework, especially where it addresses the use of technology and promotes
learning. The following philosophical underpinnings for the framework connect to the
preparation of effective teachers because educators require flexibility, reflexivity, and adequate
technology skills to support students’ needs (University of Phoenix, 2020). Thus, by introducing
the concepts that contribute to integrating technology in the learning process, the framework
enables the candidates to be ready to incorporate the advanced technologies in their teaching

practices, which in turn can significantly help them cope with the issues arising from worldwide
crises such as COVID-19. In addition, proposing the framework that calls for respecting
diversity, equity, and inclusion underscores the importance of tackling the digital divide issue
and guaranteeing that all learners have equal opportunities to receive quality education,
depending on their social status. Thus, the proposed approach for growing the supply of teachers
ensures that an early generation of well-equipped educators, ready to appropriately manage
teaching and learning contexts when disrupted by future shocks, is produced.
