Organizational communication research is something one doesn't think about often, but it
affects our lives daily. We use this form of communication every day when we are in a workplace
setting, whether we are in or out of an office. Organizational communication is also very useful
in addressing questions about the changing aspects of the modern workplace. Our chapter eleven
PowerPoint goes into great detail about organizational cultures, and how this may affect
communication.
Dr. Kim states that organizational communication “is deeply connected to your work life,
and can be very useful when addressing questions about changing aspects of the modern
workplace.” This means that the way one's organization communicates can directly affect the
lives of those who work within the organization. As far as leaving room to address questions
about the workplace depends on the concerns one has for the organization. This means that no
one organization can conform to the needs of all of those within the organization, and this leaves
room for anyone to question the rules and regulations. These questions might include what the
pay gap is between men and women, and also if tattoos can be visible.
Chapter eleven, the PowerPoint goes into great detail about how culture can affect how
an organization communicates. For example, if multiple people spoke a different language, it
would be difficult to have everyone communicate and be on the same page. Also, depending on
the beliefs of an individual, they might not be able to conform to everything that is being
communicated by an organization, and a great example of this is the Covid 19 vaccine. One's

religious beliefs don't allow vaccines, but an organization requires them to work. This is a huge
factor that causes communication from the organization to the worker to be blocked.
In conclusion, organizational communication is essential for work-life balance, and it is
something that can directly affect one's personal life. This form of communication opens up
many doors for individuals to interpret the rules and gives opportunities to question these rules.
