Alex Michaelides Book summary

 

Alex Michaelides was born in Cyprus and grew up there during the Cyprus problem. He moved to the UK for high school and received his MA in English Literature from Cambridge. He then moved to the US where he attended the American Film Institute and received his MA in screenwriting. Alex turned to write novels after growing frustrated with the film production process. Alex worked in a ward for frustrated teenagers for a couple of years. This experience served as the inspiration for the novel, and he began writing it in 2017. The Silent Patient received great success and propelled Alex to fame. He then went on to write his second novel, The Maidens, in 2021. Alex moved back to Cyprus after living in London for several years.
