Frank Herbert Book summary

Frank Herbert was born in Washington, USA, in 1980. It is said that he knew he was going to be an author since he was eight years old. Frank became a journalist after High School, and then joined the Navy as a photographer during WWII. However, he was soon discharged, and he then attempted to gain a writing qualification from the University of Washington. He failed to secure the qualification because he refused to study the courses that he did not find to be engaging. He returned to working as a Journalist and became inspired to write Dune, while he was working on an article about preventing the spread of dunes. The manuscript of Dune was rejected by several publishers before the Chilton Book Company decided to give publish it. Dune became a quick success and allowed Frank to become a full-time writer by 1972. He wrote several other books in the series, and his son used his notes to write several other books based on the same world. The Dune Books have been likened to the books of The Lord of the Rings, due to the depth of world-building that the authors undertook in writing their stories.
