- 1
What is Animalism?
Animalism is the ideology that is founded by the pigs after they hear the speech of Old Major. The horses are particularly instrumental in spreading the ideology among the other animals, while the pigs attempt to explain the core ideas of the ideology through seven commandments. The seven commandments include:
1) Whatever goes upon two legs is an enemy.
2) Whatever goes upon four legs, or has wings, is a friend.
3) No animal shall wear clothes.
4) No animal shall sleep in a bed.
5) No animal shall drink alcohol.
6) No animal shall kill any other animal.
7) All animals are equal.
However, these commandments are continually amended in secret to suit the needs of the pigs.

How does Napoleon secure power?
Napoleon is one of the prominent characters from the start of the rebellion, however, he faces a major political opponent in the form of Snowball. Snowball is a skilled spokesperson who is able to win over the confidence of the animals through his lengthy and creative speeches. Napoleon realizes that he cannot defeat Snowball through any democratic means and therefore uses a pack of trained dogs to claim power under the threat of violence. He then replaces the democratic setup of the farm government with a totalitarian form with himself at the head of it all.
