George Orwell Book summary

George Orwell was the nom de plume of Eric Arthur Blair, who was born on 25 June 1903 in the Bengal Presidency of British India. His time in the Burma police force, and among the working class of cities like London caused him to develop a poor opinion of colonial practices. Animal Farm is popularly cited for its criticism of Stalinism, a form of communism, however, Geroge Orwell was a staunch socialist as he joined the British Independent Labour party in 1938 after he had returned from the Spanish Civil War. He is better known for his book 1984, which is claimed by many to be his masterpiece. 1984 and Animal Farm both depict the power of language and how it is deployed by totalitarian regimes. Geroge Orwell died in 1950, just a year after he had finished working on 1984.
