here is instruction pls read very carefully

write two body paragraphs that compare and/or contrast the two essays. Write one body paragraph in the chunk method and the other in the slice method as described by Cooley. Each paragraph should have clear topic sentence, examples for validation, analysis and a concluding sentence.

The difference from the TIAC method of paragraph construction is the internal arrangement of the examples and analysis that flows from a detailed topic sentence.

You may choose to use the same topic sentence for both body paragraphs, but you could create different topic sentences for them.

here first essay;

I read where one of the big investment houses on Wall Street handed out billions in bonuses, and one fellow treated his cohorts to $1500 bottles of pinot at one of New York’s finest restaurants. He had a good day.

Today, I had a good day! I took my three year old grandson, Zachary, to the creamery for a chocolate milkshake. As the waitress served the silver metal canister brimming with vanilla ice cream mixed with thick chocolate sauce (the preferred recipe), with a dollop of whipped cream on top, his eyes grew bigger with anticipation. At 83, the latter is something I deal in often, at the expense of reality. But the actual in this case, a chocolate milkshake in hand, is simply the best. Seeing the pleasure on his dear little face, smeared with chocolate, beats pinot every time!

The realization of how precious and fleeting times like this are, turned to sadness for me because I will not be here to see him grow up; that I will not be able to assuage his hurts, to encourage after disappointments, and to bore him with homilies from an old warrior who has seen too much of life. In the meantime, when he falls off his bike, the best I can do is pick him up, exhort him to try again, and apply a little mercurochrome to a scratch.

And when he’s a little older, I want him to know about what it was like when his “papa” was a child, to know about things that were so much a part of my life to this day. I want him to know about horse drawn milk wagons with balloon tires, quarts of glass bottled milk with three inches of cream frozen at the top (best consumed by spoon before your mother catches you), sycamore trees, burning leaves, hollyhocks, lightning bugs, street cars, 10 cent stores and small town main street.

Zachary’s growing up will be “whiz bang”, faster, technology driven in ways impossible to imagine by my generation. But I shall remember this day at the creamery and the values learned in a simpler time, values I believe transcend all the things I don’t understand in this age.

Second essay;

When I was seven years old my sister gave me my first big chocolate bar. It was a Hershey’s king size bar, and it was plain milk chocolate.

It was the night of my seventh birthday and I was sitting on the couch in my living room. I was not alone because my family was sitting with me. My sister Chelsea who was eighteen handed me two presents and I said, “thanks.” I tore open the birthday wrapping and said, “Oh what I have always wanted! A chocolate bar, and my favorite movie, Chicken Little.” I plopped the movie into the DVD player and skipped all of the advertisements. I hit play at the DVD menu and the movie started. I was sitting on the couch with my sister Chelsea on one side of me and my dad on the other side. I waited for the movie to start and I ripped open the package to the candy bar. It was like I was looking for the golden ticket. I started chowing down on the candy bar, and it was the most rich chocolate I have ever tasted. The chocolate was so smooth when I placed it into my mouth to eat. The chocolate started to melt in my mouth as I savored every little bite. Eating chocolate is like playing a video game cause they both make me happy.

I hugged my sister and thanked her for the chocolate bar because it was so good. I was excited that she was at my party instead of working across the street. I didn’t get to see my sister a lot even through she lived right next to me because she had to work a lot. My sister is nicer to me then my brother.

My sister and I still have good times and I love when she gets me chocolate. When I eat chocolate it makes me think of that moment. My sister and I get along very well. She’s a nice sister. Sometimes I hang out with her and have a sleepover. We were watching movies all night and it was awesome. The next morning my sister got up and made some yummy blueberry pancakes. I really want to go back to my sister’s house for another sleep over and see my pitbull Tyson because I love that dog. I’m so close to my sister, Chelsea. I believe in family relations and chocolate.
