You may define “effective” as you see fit, but you must support your reasoning. Make sure that you identify the thesis and then analyze the author’s use of logic, detail, and/or technique. (Essentially, this is similar to what you did with the paired essays on same-sex marriage, only more fully developed and in-depth.)
