The meaning of the song was mainly derived from Gwyneth Paltrow, the then wife to Chris Martin, after she had just been bereaved of her father-the same time he was writing the song. This is clearly described in the second half of the song’s first verse, which reads: “When the tears come streaming down your face When you lose something you can’t replace When you lose someone but it goes to waste Could it be worse?” (Source: http://genius.com/Coldplay-fix-you-lyrics) During one of his interviews, Chris Martins had the following to say concerning the song, “Fix You will most probably go down in history as the most significant song that we will ever write.” His word is surely gold. By stating that, ‘ignite your bones’ the listener can find this as bewildering, but it should be noted that the sole reason why it is there is to help with ensuring that there is a maintenance of a rhythm. This line is use as a metaphor and is aimed at ensuring that Gwyneth becomes motivated and regain her hope. Remixing this song may bring in more tonal variations but it will bring in the second person who will act as an expression on how the affected person felt. This therefore means that the song needs a remix to combine two or more artists to bring more meaning because the audience needs to get a clear image of the real song and the happenings behind it.
