Original model in Assignment 02 is shown to production manager. He pointed out
that this is only the first shift of a two-shift day and should be run for 10 days 16
hours per day (10 replications). He suggested the following things based on the
results from the previous model:
On second shift there are two operators at Rework (the bottleneck station)
The Sealer fails sometimes
- Uptimes ~ exponential, mean 120 minutes
- Repair times ~ exponential, mean 4 minutes
Modify the existing model with the information above and then compare the
results with Assignment 02.doe.

A flow line layout manufacturing shop, where manufactured parts (single type) are arriving at a rate of 3
parts/hr. Parts needs to pass through three consecutive machines namely: Drill, Tapping, and Painting
machine. Processing times of the parts on the mentioned machines are shown in the following table:

Tapping Machine Normal (3,1)
Painting Machine Uniform (4,6)
The Tapping machine is subjected to random breakdowns. The failure pattern is as follows
Uptimes ~ exponential, mean 2 hours
Repair times ~ exponential, mean 4 minutes
Develop an ARENA model with base time in minutes, and run it for five days 8-hours shifts (10
replications) to obtain the utilization of the different resources.
Note: The report should include:
1- An MS-WORD file contains the answers for the above questions, 2- The ARENA models file (i.e. *****.doe).
