My Worst Nightmare (Draft#1)
I consider myself a person that is very good at all types of genres. People always tell me that I am a very outgoing and sociable person and I think those characteristics help me in when it comes to talking about different genres. Actually if yesterday somebody ask me what is the most difficult genre for me I would probably have no answer for that. Thinking about one was a very hard time for me but when I realize which the most difficult genre was for me I realize that genre is being affecting my whole life if we take away childhood. Is academic writing and research arguments. I believe this one is the only genre in which I struggle every day of my life. Academic writing and research arguments are the most difficult genre for me because it has made me lose experiences, opportunities and it has even delayed my life.
Dealing with English composition classes in elementary school was a bit difficult for me and the consequences were not to heavy. My English classes in those time were grammar and spelling. In these classes I were supposed to write pieces of writing in English. My general GPA in the bulletin when I was in elementary school in every year was about 4.6 and my lowest grade in every bulletin every single bimester was in grammar and spelling which were always between 3.6 to 3.0 almost failing the year class. When this happens every end of every bimester my parents punished me taken away things that stressed me out or distracted me. Since my parents are divorced I received punishment from both sides. My did not let me go to my soccer school as well as staying after class for any sport activity, my mom does the same thing but at home, she did not let me play with my video game which were my main distraction when I was home. They did not let me go to any birthday party of any friend no matter where it was or who was the one who was having a birthday party. They also won’t let me eat any food outside home that I liked. No Macdonald’s and no T.G.I Fridays which are my favorite’s restaurants. Things like these continues as my life was passing. For me it was a routine that every end of each term I were going to have hard days.
There were many things I couldn’t experience in my middle high school because of English composition classes, many things that would fulfill my life with knowledge and experience. When I was in 7th and 8th grade I was in the marching band of my school. In those years I marched for my school in November in Calle 50 and Casco Viejo. In 9th grade I was one of the 4 captains of the marching band. At the beginning of my 3 trimester that year the social science teacher told me that I was not going to be able to march in the band that year because I was failing one of my classes unless I was able to improve my grades and guess which class was. English Composition. Through the trimester I was not able to improve my grades in that class so I did not march although that was the only class I was failing. That same year I was in national bowling team for minor leagues for people under age of 16. I was practicing through all that year because we were going to have an international tournament in Mexico were they were going to be all the National teams of countries in central America and north America. It was the first time in my life I was going to have a trip for playing any sports representing my country. I was supposed to take a flight 5 days after the day when my parents pick up the bulletin at school. That same day when my parents picked up the bulletin I received a notice from them that I was not going to be able to participate because I failed English Composition the whole year and I had to stay for remedial. No matter my GPA of my bulletin was 4.22 y had a 2.96 in English composition and I had to stay for the remedial. I remember the grades perfectly. That was terrific for me. It was horrible I remember I cried every day that I was supposed to be in Mexico. I will never forget that week it was painful for me. Thanks god later on I was able to participate in another tournament in a future. Not only had I had these 2 bad experiences. I also lost the opportunity to finish my high school in the United States because I lost a scholarship that my dad got me.
Fighting with English classes in my last 3 years of high school was way more difficult because of many reasons and the consequences I had were heavier. Things were getting complex as soon as I enter 10th grade. The English classes started to demand more of my effort. I had to write more words, more pages. I started to learn how to do an essay, how to research and I was enroll in many of extracurricular activities like soccer, debate clubs and other activities (I had practice more than 5 sports through my life). Believe it or not my grades always were above 4 with the eternal exception of English classes so being in many activities aren’t supposed to affected my grades. Because of this class I had to give summer classes for the first time of my life. In this summer I lost a family trip with my mom`s in which they were going to the biggest cruise on earth. I was in a classroom while all of my cousins and family were in the biggest cruise having a great time. Not only these, I also lose my prom trip to Cancun because I had to stayed for remedial that same week. I think that was one of the heaviest punishment in my life. The feeling when all of your classmates are in Cancun having a trip full of memories for the rest of their life while I was staying home studying for that remedial. Literally that was like the third or fourth trip I missed for the same reason. Failing that same class.
In college English composition classes is more difficult for me because of many reasons, the consequences were less notable but this consequences are the most heaviest because they does not affects me for the moment like the others, it affects my life, it delays my life. In high school I was used to British structure because the methods that I learned in high school were different. That affects me a lot when I came to my first class here in FSU. The research is different so I have to do the double of effort than any other student. Right now my GPA is in 2.8 because all the English courses I took in this university aren’t the best grades. I need a 3.0 in order to have the 2+2 scholarship that the university can give me. The major I am studying is mechanical engineering. Right now I have 3 As and 2 Bs in all my math courses and I have 3 Fs and 1 B- in my English courses. Today I am still fighting with English composition classes because right now I am supposed to be in Tallahassee right now but I’m still here stuck in panama because I have not passed ENC2135.
