1). 324 mrem
2).
1. 324 mrem = 0.324 rem
2. 0.324 / 2500 = 0.0001296 of a cancer dose
3. 1 / 0.0001296 = 7716
So that's a 1 in 7716 chance per year.
3). Comment on what you learned from this activity. Are your sources of radiation dose what you expected? Is your chance to get cancer from radiation what you expected?
I know the radiation is measured in units called millirems (mrems). The one of the sources of radiation is Where people live. I live in the low elevation place, which is 0-1000 ft. It only has 28 mrem. Higher elevation, higher radiation exposure. In fact, the internal radiation is the source of the human bodies get the highest radiation. We get 44 mrems from food and 200 mrems from air per year. I cannot believe it is the highest part from my result. I always think I may get more radiation exposure from TV and computer. International Standards allow the limits for radiation exposure to as much as 5,000 mrems a year or someone who work with radiational materials will get cancer. I think I only have tiny chance to get cancer.
