Introduction

For anyone who understands the applications of the modern technology, such as cellular and satellite technologies, the ease to which he/she can understand the importance or the demerits of Close Circuit Television (CCTV) surveillance in our society would be founded on conceptual truth. Basically, CCTV video surveillance can operate by passively recording play back video at certain intervals or by actively recording a video of all events that are being monitored by security personnel. Basically, this is one of the most rampant public video surveillances in the United States, for instance, in a majority of country’s municipal-operated systems (Capers 960). Therefore, it’s important to note that public surveillance systems like CCTV surveillances can employ a combined monitoring method that utilizes both active and passive video recording. However, questions have been raised on whether a public CCTV video surveillance system can enhance our society or undermine it in some ways. For instance, assuming privacy is an essential moral right, some places without public video surveillance have reported an increase in crime rates (Walby 435). There are several the trending issues associated with public CCTV video surveillance, particularly the manner in which they enhance our society by reducing the burden of proof. Analyzing the benefits of this form of public video surveillance will help dispel the idea that it undermines the society in some ways.
