[Week 6] Learning Team Assignment and Rubric: Workplace Assessments

** All teams will report on an instrument used in the workplace. **

1. Select an assessment instrument used in the workplace (related to business,

employment selection, or careers) and

2. prepare a 7- to 10-slide Microsoft ® PowerPoint

® presentation in which your Learning

Team describes . . .

a. the instrument (length, type of items, scales/scores it reports, etc.) AND

b. its purposes and uses in the workplace.

3. Comment on any legal or ethical considerations for organizations that use the

instrument. [Suggestion: to see if there have been legal problems with your test,

search the Web using the search term “XXX employment lawsuit” without the

quotes, where XXX = the name of your test.]

You can present any psychological test, as long as it’s actually used in workplace settings.

See Chapter 16 of the textbook for examples.

Note that the assignment calls for you to focus on one specific instrument, not a “type”

of instrument. For example, don’t review “Intelligence Tests” in general, instead review one

specific intelligence test. Don’t review “Personality Tests” in general, rather review one

particular personality test. Etc.

Good news: for the learning team assignment you are not limited to peer-reviewed articles.

In fact, you can use anything, including books, magazines, and websites. Most of the

workplace tests are sold on the Internet, so you'll be able to find lots of information on the

websites of the test developers or vendors.
