In the short pieces by Kincaid, Torres, and Morrison, each writer tells a story using a different point of view (POV). Discuss how each POV helps the writer craft an engaging story. How do their choices help the reader connect to the purpose of the story? What could you “steal” for your own writing?
 
In addition to the POV, each writer explores a specific theme in their writing. Discuss the theme and explain why it is significant to the overall arc of the story.
