Steps to complete This Project

Mark the steps as checked when you complete them.

NOTE: If group titles are not visible on your Ribbon in Word for Mac, click the Word menu and select Preferences to open the Word Preferences dialog box. Click the View button and check the Show group titles check box under Ribbon. Close the Word Preferences dialog box.

  1. Open the OnlineLearning-01.docx start file. If the document opens in Protected View, click the Enable Editingbutton so you can modify it. Use arrow keys to navigate between play, volume, and speed buttons. Press Enter to activate. When a panel is open, press Escape to close it.
  2. The file will be renamed automatically to include your name. Change the project file name if directed to do so by your instructor, and save it. Use arrow keys to navigate between play, volume, and speed buttons. Press Enter to activate. When a panel is open, press Escape to close it.
  3. Change the line and paragraph spacing for the entire document. 
    1. Press Command+A to select the entire document. Use arrow keys to navigate between play, volume, and speed buttons. Press Enter to activate. When a panel is open, press Escape to close it.
    2. Click Format on the Word menu bar and then click Paragraph... to open the Paragraph dialog box (Figure 1-96). Use arrow keys to navigate between play, volume, and speed buttons.   4. Delete blank lines in the document.

  5. Change the font for the entire document.

  6. Change the paragraph spacing, alignment, font size, styles, effects, and color of the title.

    2. Click the Layout tab. Use arrow keys to navigate between play, volume, and speed buttons. Press Enter to activate. When a panel is open, press Escape to close it.

  7. Move paragraphs in the document and insert a heading.
    1. Select the last paragraph in the document, including the paragraph mark at the end of the paragraph (“SPCCD is …”). Use arrow keys to navigate between play, volume, and speed buttons. Press Enter to activate. When a panel is open, press Escape to close it.
    2. Click the Cut button [Home tab, Clipboard group] or press Command+X. Use arrow keys to navigate between play, volume, and speed buttons. Press Enter to activate. When a panel is open, press Escape to close it.
    3. Place your insertion point before the second line of the document (“Definition of Online Learning Modalities”). Use arrow keys to navigate between play, volume, and speed buttons. Press Enter to activate. When a panel is open, press Escape to close it.

  8. Format section headings in the document and use the Format Painter
    1. Select the first section heading (“Where Are We Now with Online Learning?”). Use arrow keys to navigate between play, volume, and speed buttons. Press Enter to activate. When a panel is open, press Escape to close it.
    2. Click Format on the Word menu bar and then click Font... to open the Font dialog box and click the Font tab if necessary (Figure 1-99).   9. Format paragraph headings in the document.

  10. Use the Format Painter to copy formatting to the other paragraph headings.

    2. Select the other paragraph headings (“Synchronous Online Course:”, “Hybrid Course:”, and “Technology-Enhanced Course:”) including the colon after each to apply the formatting.   11. Select the last sentence in the last paragraph (“Note: this. ..”), and click the Italic button [Home tab, Font group] or press Command+I. Use arrow keys to navigate between play, volume, and speed buttons. Press Enter to activate. When a panel is open, press Escape to close it.
  12. Correct spelling and grammar in the document using the context menu and the Editor
    1. Right-click the first misspelled word (“managment”) and choose the correct spelling from the list of options in the context menu. Use arrow keys to navigate between play, volume, and speed buttons. Press Enter to activate. When a panel is open, press Escape to close it.
    2. Click the Editor button [Review tab, Proofing group]. The Editor pane opens on the right. Use arrow keys to navigate between play, volume, and speed buttons. Press Enter to activate.   13. Use the Smart Lookup feature to research the meaning of a word.
    Office 365/2021 Note: The Search feature has been removed from most versions of Office. If the Search feature is not available on your version of Word, skip this step. 
    1. Select the word “synchronous” in the first paragraph in the “Definition of Online Learning Modalities” section. Use arrow keys to navigate between play, volume, and speed buttons. Press Enter to activate. When a panel is open, press Escape to close it.
    2. Right-click the select word and select Smart Lookup... from the context menu. The Smart Lookup pane opens on the right. Use arrow keys to navigate between play, volume, and speed buttons. Press Enter to activate. When a panel is open, press Escape to close it.

  15. Use the Read Aloud feature.
