Weekly World View Chart Assignment Beginning in Week 2, you will complete weekly World View Chart assignments that involve a description of each religion’s understanding of each of eight world views.  The categories include Cosmogony (Origins of the Universe), View of the Nature of God/Creator, View of Human Nature, View of Good and Evil, View of ‘Salvation,’ View of After Life, Practices and Rituals and Festivals and Celebrations.  You will have these weekly assignments weeks 2 through 10.  Weeks 2 and 4 you will fill out the World View Chart and separately describe the views of two religions (Hinduism and Jainism Week 2 and Daoism and Confucianism Week 4); the remainder of the weeks you will focus upon one religion and for Week 10 you are to select one of the New Religious Movements discussed in the textbook to complete the Week 10 chart.  

You will find the majority of the information you need to complete these weekly assignments in the textbook and you should provide a citation of your source for information placed into each one of the eight categories (e.g., Fisher, 2014, p. 77 – see Template).  The textbook should be the primary source for each category, although occasionally you may need to draw from information in the course lectures, weekly Instructor Insights, or credible online sources to complete your chart.  Information from the textbook or any other sources should be paraphrased, and if direct quotes are used, they should be brief, with most of the information paraphrased and in your own words. Do not copy and paste from websites to fill out information under each category and if you include brief quotations, be sure to properly cite your source.  World View Chart assignments that have content copied and pasted from websites will receive a grade of zero.
