ANSWER BOTH QUESTIONS – AT LEAST A COUPLE OF PAGES FOR EACH 

Question #1: 

Analyze a specific conspiracy theory (preferably of the ones discussed by Sunstein, Harlan, or Sagan, but another one is acceptable). Do a little research into it so you know what the supporters of the theory actually claim. Explain what the theory is and then critically analyze it. Show what specific features of it are either credible or not, and argue whether the theory is true, plausible, implausible, or just plain false, and WHY. 

Question #2: 

Discuss belief in conspiracy theories in general. Explain Sunstein’s view of conspiracy theories. What are the general signs of conspiracy theories that are suspect and ought to be questioned or rejected? Why do people believe them, even when there is little or no actual evidence for them? 

Technical requirements: 

The essay should be one to two pages double spaced typed, not counting any endnotes. Use 1” margins all around, and either 10 or 12 point font. (Do NOT increase margins or font to make up for a skimpy paper!! I hate that.)
