Regarding nonsectarian activities such as running a thrift shop or keeping financial accounts, the religious organization will enjoy the same freedom to discriminate on the basis of religion since these religious beliefs are a fundamental part of their purpose (Bennett-Alexander, D. D., & Hartman, L. P., 2015). 

In Corporation of the Presiding Bishop of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latterday Saints v. Amos, the U.S. Supreme Court supported the church in the termination of a janitor who did not upkeep his membership to the church, stating that the church did not violate any laws against discrimination. Religious organizations are extensively exempt from the prohibitions of Title VII.
