Week 8 Discussion 1 - Education Meets Budgets and Taxes
Access the link below and read the article, Education Meets Budgets & Taxes: A Brief Message.
Special Note: We will not be playing the game, "Swamped," described in the article.
This is an excellent article that exposes how the public thinks in terms of taxes and education. Terms such as Individualism, Little Picture Thinking, and Crisis Thinking are defined and special attention is given as to the "Dos" and "Don'ts" in communicating with people who fall into each category.
- How is this helpful in your understanding of fiscal policy and the people with whom you work in the community?
- When have you seen representatives of the three dominant culture models and how have you been able to navigate these challenges? If you have not yet had that experience, post some ideas that you might use in your community to steer that ship.
Your initial responses are due by 11:55 p.m. Eastern Time on Wednesday and should be between 200-250 words. The initial posting should be a statement of your point of view on the question, supported by the required readings.
