Voicing Objections - Discussion Board

profileshasca

It is very easy to fall into the habit of listening to your own voice alone, forgetting that every effective community organizer is, before all things, a good listener. This exercise will give you the opportunity to see your project from a radically different perspective—from that of its potential opponents. Let this glimpse guide your work from here on out!

Imagine that you are a community member who is writing an Op/Ed piece for the local paper in opposition to the proposed action-research project (attachment). Keeping this in mind, respond to the following:

  • As a community member, submit a one-paragraph article that details your reasonable objections to the proposed project.
  • As a student, follow up with a brief response to these potential objections.

Write your initial response in 3–4 paragraphs. Apply APA standards to citation of sources.
