Let’s talk about modern art and its father, Giotto.  And let’s be honest, we didn’t really see anything “modern” in the Arena Chapel, did we?  Then why on earth is he considered the father of modern art?  Let’s start to puzzle this out by discussing what you learned about the Arena Chapel, how the details described were at the time, innovative.  Tell me what you see in this work, and ponder how it is connected to modern art.
