Statistics questions
Your group wants to see how the rating of the restaurant experience relates the quality characteristics of the restaurant experience as measured by the variables cost, food, décor, service and location. There are 100 observations and each observation corresponds to a restaurant. Download data set: RestaurantsData.xlsx
- Dependent (Response) Variable: Rating
- Candidate Independent (Predicting) Variables: Cost, Food, Décor, Service, Location
As a group, do following and submit one summary document and one excel file. The objective of this activity is to provide the practice opportunity for the project, so that you can help each other to do better job on your own Data Analysis Project.
Part I
- Create a scatter plot of your response variable and each of the predicting variables. Describe any patterns you observe in each
- Pick one of the four predicting variables as your predicting variable and fit a simple linear regression model. Present regression equation and interpret the slope coefficient.
- What is the coefficient of determination (R2R2) of your regression model? Explain the meaning of the coefficient of determination.
- Comment on the strength of your regression model based on the value of.
- Is there a linear relationship between your response variable and predicting variable? Specify your hypothesis and run a statistical hypothesis test for the significance of the slope coefficient. Draw your conclusion of your hypothesis test.
Part II
- Add the second predicting variable to your regression model and run the regression. Check the signs of the estimated coefficients of your model. Are the signs consistent with your expectations?
- Interpret the estimated coefficients of your model.
- Is the multiple regression model significant? In other words, is there a linear relationship between your response variables and the predicting variables? Run a hypothesis test to justify your answer. Assume αα=0.05.
- Run the multiple regression using all five independent variables. Briefly discuss which module is better with two independent variable or all five independent variables.
