From the article published in 1994 about gendered media there are similar concerns even now. Women are misrepresented and viewed as dramatic. In most entertainment programs, women are portrayed as dramatic and cannot make decisions without the help of the men. Media portrays women as sex objects for men. One of the most pervasive way media defines men as authorities is in commercials. Mr. Clean when he shows up to tell them how to keep their homes spotless. Women are routinely shown anguishing over dirty floors and bathroom fixtures only to be relieved of their distress.
